On March 3, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) launched a new attack against the Syrian Liberation Front (SLF) in the southern Idlib countryside, according to Syrian opposition sources. The Syrian pro-opposition news outlet Enab Baladi reported that HTS fighters had captured the villages of Arnaba, Ein Laruz, Mozra, Sfuhen, Hazarin, Ftireh, Tell Sufuhn, Kafr Oweid and Hazarin in the southern Idlib countryside.
The HTS-linked news agency Iba’a also reported that the locals in the key town of Kafr Nabl had kicked out SLF fighters because they had tried to use the town as a base to attack nearby HTS positions.
Furthermore, locals in the village of Slawah in northeastern Idlib repelled an attack of the SLF and captured a group of its fighters, according to Iba’a.
Meanwhile, pro-SLF sources said that SLF fighters had repelled two attacks by HTS on their positions in the city of Darat Izza and the town of Tuqad in western Aleppo. SLF fighters reportedly ambushed and killed a group of HTS fighters around Tuqad.
Clashes between the SLF and HTS in northern Syria will likely continue as each side appears to be not ready for a “peaceful” solution.
