On December 22, a unit of Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) conducted a hit and run attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) around the village of Kabani in the northern Lattakia countryside, according to Syrian oppositions sources. The sources claimed that over 20 soldiers and officers of the SAA were killed in the attack.
The HTS-linked news Iba’a Agency didn’t confirm yet that HTS was behind the attack. This means that other Islamist groups like the Turkistan Islamic Party (TIP) or even al-Qaeda could be behind the attack.
Syrian pro-government sources confirmed that Islamists fighters attacked a position of the SAA around Kabani. However, the sources said that only 3 SAA soldiers were killed and 5 were others injured in the attack.
Earlier, Syrian oppositions activists claimed that the SAA and the National Defense Forces (NDF) are massing their troops in the northern Lattakia countryside to launch an attack towards the strategic city of Jisr al-Shughur in the western Idlib countryside. However, such an attack is highly unlikely now as the SAA is already planning to launch an attack towards the southwestern Aleppo countryside.
Wait how the fuc* they attack in latakia in kobani thats Turkish border lol. So did they enter from Turkey or wtf is going on
It probably was the first Coastal division
Instead of HTS because the First Coastal division is always doing their there thing in northern Latakia.
Good one. Probably nothing happened, and this American invasion and politics going down really fast, and whatever they are trying to do, just makes them go even faster down the hill.
Russia and Syria must declare all who harbour terrorist on Syrian soil terrorist and enemies.Either you are with us or you are against us. Same tactics of George Bush.
Bomb terrorist hideouts inside USA bases in Al Tanaf and Hasaka.Arm and mobilise all surrendered terrorist and instruct them to bomb only USA Syrian illegal bases. There are many vulnerable USA based in Syria.Plant all USA roads with bombs.Rape all dead USA soldiers bbecauseefore putting them in bags it is physiological war which USA imposed against Syrians.
I was right about the attack in northern Latakia if you have seen my comment on https://southfront.org/syrian-army-repels-jaysh-al-izza-attack-in-northern-hama-kills-chechen-commander-of-al-qaeda-photos-videos/
Whomever did the attack, the result is likely more forces needed to be stationed in the area to guard against new attacks. For SAA, suffering from lack of manpower, events like this are troublesome.
In the report I do not understand the differentiation between Al Qaeda and HTS. Does Al Qaeda now have a separate force from those that were incorperated into HTS?
Apparently Al Nusra is officially no longer part of the Al Qaida brand. So the latter set up a new franchise holder to carry on the brand name. Een pot nat if you ask me, but on paper it seems to matter.
