On February 4, Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) and the US-backed Faylaq al-Rahman announced that their fighters had repelled an attack by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) on their positions in the district of Irbin east of the Syrian capital, Damascus.
Faylaq al-Rahman claimed that its fighters had killed eight Syrian soldiers while repelling the SAA attack. The HTS-linked news agency Iba’a reported that seven Syrian soldiers were killed when their position in Irbin district was hit with a mortar round fired by HTS fighters.
On the other side, a source of the SAA’s 4th Division told SouthFront that the SAA did not conduct any offensive operations in Irbin district on February 4. The source also denied that any SAA soldier was killed but acknowledged that a bulldozer and a battle tank were damaged on February 3.
Meanwhile, Syrian pro-government sources reported that warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force (SyAAF) had conducted new airstrikes against the positions of Faylaq al-Rahman, the Ahrar al-Sham Movement, HTS and Jaysh al-Islam in the districts of Duma, Harasta and Irbin.
The SAA backed by the SyAAF launched a new attack on Irbin district on February 3 to reach road between the districts of Irbin and Mudayra and besiege the militants around the Armored Vehicles Base.
What is result of that attack on February 3? Is there any progress? Same as I read about progress at Harasta orchards few days ago same as in some buildings at north Harasta …. It is confirmed? Is there any updated maps? Thank you
SAA just harass Nusra and company, destroying fortifications and killing two-three wahabies every day, while doing real stuff in Aleppo and Idlib.
This is not the priority.
