The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) has continued a military operation against ISIS in the area north of the ash-Shaer gas fields in the northwestern countryside of Palmyra.
So far, the SAA has captured, the ash-Shaer communication station, the ash-Shaer plant, the Qaret al-Bak area, the Thaniat al-Roz mountain and some oil and gas wells: No 103, No 108, No 110, No 112. The SAA has also reached the well No 105 – the key well in the fields.
In turn, ISIS claimed that it had killed 20 Syrian soldiers, carried out a VBIED attack on Syrian forces and destroyed an SAA battle tank and a Shilka self-propelled vehicle. (with AGTMs)
The Russian Aerospace Forces have carried out multiple airstrikes targeting ISIS gatherings and positions in the vicinity of the ash-Shaer gas fields northwest of Palmyra, a silos east of the city and the villages of Taiba and Alkom northeast of it.
Mahr, Tuenan, Arak, Shmal Al-Hussein, Al-Hill fields are still under the control of ISIS, but all the fields are out of service according to opposition sources. Opposition sources also reported that ISIS had destroyed all equipment and pumping towers in the ash-Sha’er gas fields since the SAA launched its attack on the city of Palmyra.
Hope the gas field and its pump still works.
The Syrian people could really use some gas at home.
