GNA Forces In Tripoli Came Under Another Wave Of Airstrikes (Video, Photos)

On May 9 and 10, warplanes supporting the Libyan National Army (LNA) carried out more than 12 airstrikes on forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) south and west of Libya’s capital, Tripoli.

The airstrikes targeted positions, vehicles and gatherings of pro-GNA forces in the towns of Ain Zara, Mashru’a al-Muz and Janzur.

Pro-LNA sources said that these airstrikes were carried out by the Libyan Air Force (LAF). However, some sources specualted that the UAE Air Force (UAEAF), which is known for operating unmanned combat aerial vehicles (UCAVs) over Libya, was behind the aerial attacks.

These airstrikes came as the LNA is trying to resume its advance south and west of Tripoli. So far, the fierce resistance of pro-GNA forces has prevented the army from capturing any new area.

The upcoming hours will likely witness more airstrikes on GNA forces. Last month, a similar aerial attack allowed the LNA to reach the outskirt of Tripoli, before withdrawing as a result of several counter-attacks.
