Germany allows arms export to Saudi Arabia

It is reported that German government permitted several deals of arms export in the Middle East including Saudi Arabia.

Reuters reported on Monday that the EU will give 23 Airbus military helicopters to Saudi Arabia, which is currently conducting military aggression against an impoverished country Yemen.

It is also reported that Germany’s Economy Minister Sigmar Gabriel said to the economy committee of the lower house of the parliament that the country also approved a deal by Heckler & Koch to deliver 130 machine pistols and automatic rifles and allowed Rheinmetall to export 65,000 mortar cartridges to the United Arab Emirates which is a Saudi partner in Yemen invasion.

The German government also allowed Heckler & Koch to deliver 660 machine guns, 660 additional gun barrels and 550 sub-machine guns to Oman. Five military helicopters by Airbus to Thailand and 490 machine pistol and automatic rifles by Heckler & Koch were also approved by the German government.

However, Saudi-led coalition has been engaged in a military aggression with Yemen. Since their operation began in March last year, more than 8400 civilians including 2300 children have been killed. Saudi Arabia is also believed to be supporting and funding terrorists all over Middle East. In January, Germany’s Economic Minister said that the country might limit its weapon exports to Saudi Arabia when the country executed 47 people.
