A military column was spotted in the area of the Polish city of Katowice. It was reportedly heading from Germany towards Ukraine. Judging by the footage, German air defense systems are approaching Ukrainian front lines.

At least three German short-range anti-aircraft missile systems IRIS-T SLS are seen in the military column.

Recently, the German Ministry of Defense announced the delivery of four air defense systems to the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The pictures were taken at night, so probably the IRIS-T launchers could already have reached Ukrainian territory by now.

The decision to supply new batch of the military equipment the Kiev regime was announced on October 10, immediately after Russian missiles and UAV hit dozens of targets on the Ukrainian territory.

“Russia’s missile strikes on targets in Ukraine show the importance of the early transfer of air defense systems to Kiev,” Defense Minister Kristine Lambrecht said.

The timing of the supply indicates that the decision to send the IRIS-T SLS to Ukraine was taken in advance. Earlier, it was reported that IRIS-T SLM systems could be deployed in Ukraine from November if the decision was taken.

The IRIS-T SLM system can engage aerial targets up to 40 kilometers away at altitudes of up to more than 19 kilometers. The system’s main armament, the IRIS-T SL missile, is first directed towards its target via a datalink. Once in close proximity, the missile locks on the target with its imaging infrared seeker.

As the main caliber of the ground-based anti-aircraft missile system, the Iris rocket was first tested in 2014 and since then the testing process has been ongoing to this day. The Germans are sending this missile to see how the SAM will operate in critical conditions of harsh combat operations, where the enemy has complete air supremacy.

Some of the downsides of the IRIS-T SLM air-defense system are its limited range and its infrared-based guidance system which makes it vulnerable to some extant to active counter-measures like flares. They are also unlikely to provide Ukraine with any new capability. Kiev forces are already using medium-range air-defense systems like the Soviet-made Buk-M1 with little success.

Russians can destroy civilian houses, medical centers, schools and playgrounds only. They are not capable to take heavy weapons, wehicles down near the frontlines.

As correction to the news: It is one IRIS T-SLM system that is delivered to Ukraine. The system has three launching stations on trucks. The first system delivered, the other three will follow in the next 1 1/2 years. Who is handling the system, when Ukrainian got trained on it, how many rockets got send, nothing said in the German news about it.

North Koreans won against the US back in the 50ies

This is what everybody here is saying since March about ALL American made systems. I dont understand why does this pledge not arrive in the Russian leadership brain.

Because they sneak it across the border. The images you see, are from like last week.

Best weapon system is nothing with badly trained soldiers with zero live experience on it

Crews from Germany will operate this complex, if not enough hohlocrews are trained.

Everyone knows it's the Jews.

Germans have made their bed. I hope they enjoy the lower standard of living. Look on the bright side. This should keep migrants from thinking Europe is a desirable migration destination.

Bad weather. It will pass, that storm anyways, we wanted it or not. As for the Scholtz.

Mig-25 (piloted or drone-ified) flies well above this 19km altitude. The Mig-31, with its similar aerodynamics and radar signature, even higher. Specs per wikipedia:

20.7 km m (67,900 ft) with four missiles. 24 km (78,740 ft) with two missiles.

Can be good bomb trucks for glide bombs and stand of missiles. In conjunction with ECM, can be useful to get Ukrops to light up their SAM radars.

These weapon systems will make no difference. Russia already overwhelmed what air defense Ukraine has with their massive missile attack. Israel does the same thing to Syria. Russia can fire more missiles, rockets and loitering munitions than any air defense could ever overcome. I expect these systems to be blown up, along with the operators before long anyway. Russia has clearly demonstrated they know where to hit, and hard.

I also heard that Russia launched a lot of dummy missiles during the raid to cause Ukraine to waste their rockets at these dummy missiles.

Target them on their way, already in Poland. Who gives a shit?

Each one of those missiles probably costs significantly more than one of those cheap but effective Iranian drones. Nice economics Germany haha.

“ Germans are sending this missile to see how the SAM will operate in critical conditions of harsh combat operations, where the enemy has complete air supremacy”
Lol “air supremacy” must have a different definition in Russian! It’s almost a year and Russian planes and helicopters don’t dare enter Ukrainian territory very deep or high.

That IR sensor looks pretty fragile; a hit with a fast BB pellet or a shotgun blast might take it out. I think some day we’ll see automated (AI) flak cannons, maybe mounted on the rear for jets, and sides for helis.

Russian Air Defense and Missile Tech is generations ahead of anything the West
Russia also is a leader in electronic warfare – Peresvet and Zadira (both likely took Starlink down)
IRIS-T is junk like all otherWestern Systems like Patriot, THAAD, Aegis and Aegis Ashore are not designed against the Russian 3M14 Kalibr, X-101 or P-800 Onyx, or the Iskander and to work in a ECM heavy environment. Sending Air Defense Systems isn’t like sending one part they need to be integrated with Logistic support and operators (who NATO boots on the ground?). Russia has at least 1,830 conventional OTRs (Operational Test Readiness) and many ways of delivery, making it possible to strike at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure in batches of 100 missiles daily for six months.
Everything NATO does will not make a difference

It seems that everyone wants to use Ukraine as a testing ground for thier weapons.

These systems are already being tracked as they cross the states of the US poodles. The next time we see these systems in Ukraine, they will be a smoldering heap. Scrap metal is going to be big business in the future.

so if this shipment has been exposed, why not continue tracking it and as soon as it reaches Ukrainian territory, blow the hell out of it?
