Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on July 24 that, during the 27th wave of “Operation Nasr-2,” it targeted a major ammunition depot and several personnel accommodation facilities of the United States military at the Ali Al Salem Air Base in Kuwait, claiming the targets were completely destroyed.
According to the IRGC’s public relations office, the operation was carried out under the code name “Ya Aba Saleh Al-Mahdi Adrikni” using one-way drones, which it said triggered a series of explosions that destroyed a large ammunition storage facility inside the base.
The Corps also said personnel accommodation hangars were struck at the same time, claiming six large hangars were completely destroyed and three others severely damaged, with a large number of U.S. personnel killed or wounded.
The statement went on to claim that the U.S. military has suffered hundreds of fatalities and considerably more injuries during what it called the “five-month imposed war,” pointing to daily medical evacuation flights carrying wounded American troops to a U.S. military hospital in Germany as evidence that Washington was understating its losses.
The IRGC called on American media to investigate what it described as the true scale of U.S. casualties, battlefield losses, and financial costs, urging them to expose what it characterized as government censorship of information from the American public.
Concluding the statement, the Corps vowed that operations against what it called “the aggressors” of the U.S. would continue.
Separately, Iran’s Army said it had targeted two U.S. bases in Bahrain and Jordan in response to what it described as deadly American aerial assaults on Iran.
The Army’s public relations department said the strikes, carried out under the 24th phase of “Operation Saeqe,” involved one-way attack drones hitting fuel storage facilities, large equipment warehouses, and accommodation quarters used by American troops, whom it called “terrorist,” at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain.
It said Iranian drones also struck aircraft shelters, maintenance hangars, and accommodation facilities used by what it called the “aggressor” U.S. military at Jordan’s Al-Azraq Air Base.
The Army warned that any action against what it called the legitimate interests of Iran and its Islamic Republic system would also endanger the security and economic interests of other countries in the region.
Many blasts and interceptions were reported in Kuwait, Jordan, and Bahrain overnight and well into the morning of July 24.
Overnight U.S. strikes hit sites across Iran, with a missile striking an Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps naval base near Zibakenar on the Caspian Sea coast, damaging equipment at the facility though causing no reported casualties, according to Ali Bagheri, deputy governor of Gilan province, cited by the Iranian Students’ News Agency.
A separate strike hit a location in Piranshahr, in Iran’s northwestern West Azerbaijan province, the head of the province’s crisis management organization told the state news agency IRNA.
In western Iran, a U.S. strike on the outskirts of Khorramabad injured two people, the deputy governor of Lorestan province said, while a missile strike on sites near Ahvaz, in Khuzestan province, killed four civilians and wounded five others, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, citing provincial authorities.
IRNA also reported that U.S. strikes targeted the provinces of Isfahan, Khuzestan, Lorestan, Markazi, and Hormozgan, while state TV reported explosions in Khondab, Taft, Borujerd, and Konarak, and video circulated showing blasts over Bandar Abbas.
U.S. Central Command said in a statement that the strikes hit military command centers, drone storage facilities, communication networks, coastal surveillance sites, and maritime capabilities to “further diminish the threat Iran poses to civilian mariners and commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz.” The command did not address the reports of civilian casualties.
The confrontation between the U.S. and Iran, which began on July 17, marked the end of the memorandum of understanding signed last month to end the war. In recent days, both sides have intensified their strikes, suggesting that full-scale war could resume soon.
