Four PMU Fighters Killed In ISIS Ambush North Of Baghdad (Video)

Late on August 20, four fighters of the Popular Mobilization Units (PMU) were killed and seven others were wounded in an ambush set by ISIS terrorists in the district of Tarmiyah to the north of the Iraqi capital Baghdad.

ISIS terrorists blew up a vehicle of the PMU with an improvised explosive device then ambushed a unit that was dispatched to attack scene. According to different Iraqi media sources, five cells took part in the well-planned ambush. The terrorists used rocket-propelled grenades and sniper refiles to target the reinforcements.

The four casualties were identified as fighters Ali Kazem Hatem Daher, Mohamed Hamza Nasser, Youssef Mohammed Jassim and Dergham Adnan Hani, deputy-commander of the 3rd Regiments of the PMU’s 12th Brigade.

Many in Iraq have been warning that Tarmiyah, which is located less than 30 km away from Baghdad, is slowly turning into a stronghold of ISIS.

Several units of the Iraqi Federal Police were deployed in Tarmiyah after the deadly ambush. Nevertheless, the Iraqi government will have to take more serious measures to secure the district. ISIS presence there pose a real threat to Baghdad.
