On December 9, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that four of its soldiers were killed during clashes with the Hamas Movement and other Palestinian armed factions in the Gaza Strip.

The soldiers were identified by the IDF as Master Sergeant (reserve) Liav Atiya from the 55th Brigade’s 6623rd Battalion; Master Sergeant (reserve) Omri Ben Shachar from the 55th Brigade’s 6623rd Battalion; Staff Sergeant Jonathan Dean Jr Haim from the Combat Engineering Corps’ 603rd Battalion and Sergeant Maor Cohen Eisenkot from the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion.

Cohen is the nephew of former IDF chief of staff and current war cabinet observer minister Gadi Eisenkot, who also lost his son several days ago.

The death of the four soldiers brought the toll of Israeli troops killed since the beginning of ground operations in Gaza to 97.

The IDF said that another 12 soldiers from several units were seriously wounded during clashes in the Strip on December 8 and 9.

In addition, the IDF announced that a fifth soldier, Staff Sergeant Haim Meir Edan from the Golani Brigade’s 12th Battalion, had died from wounds he sustained during the October 7 Hamas-led surprise attack.

The IDF has been conducting ground operations in Gaza since late October. In the first phase of the operations, it managed to isolate the northern part of the Strip. Currently, it is conducting an operation in the city of Khan Yunis in the south.

Israeli sources are estimating that the current intense fighting in Gaza will go on for two more months, the Kan public broadcaster reported on December 10.

There will be no ceasefire after that period, the sources were quoted as saying, with localized operations conducted by forces that will remain in the vicinity of the Strip.

During the next two months, there will be attempts to advance more deals to release more hostages, the report said. At some point in this period, Israel will allow some Gaza residents to return to their homes. Kan noted that this is “a US demand and also an operational necessity.”

All in all, it appears that Israel is determined to go on with its ground operations in Gaza despite sustaining some serious losses.

why is sf publishing the names of idf soldiers? you should publish the names of the 17000+ civilians killed to date in the same article, to show balance.

israel has no soldiers, they have faggots who can only fight unarmed civilians, put these cowards in front of real soldiers and they will wet their pants. they are not at war, palestine has no army, no air force, no marines, no nuclear more, hamas in in a expensive hotel in qatar drinking cognac with israelian spokesman.

well, the idf supplies their “soldiers” with depends and other generic brand, adult diapers, so yeah.

inferno

we know hostages held by hamas are treated like guests, they are safer with hamas than with israelian, they think their own government will kill them and blame hamas like they did on november 8.

Boycott usa the world's bully

heroic resistance from hamas freedom fighters from one of the poorest totally controlled ‘countries’ in the world, against israel one of the richest countries, backed by usa the richest country in the world.

the vast disprortinate casualties and deaths between israeli occupation forces and palestinians, mostly children, women, and old men, clearly proves the racist mindset of those responsible for this active tragedy. the israeli likud and other extremists in israel including illegal “settlers” think israeli lives to be more valued than palestinians.

i did a comparison of gaza with the warsaw rising. the germans, with a force size that was a tenth of israel’s supporting the war in gaza, defeated a polish fighting force that was double the force hamas has in an area that was nearly double the total area of gaza in 63 days. the idf is struggling.
