The official statement said that Faylaq al-Rahman representatives emphasized during the meeting that Faylaq al-Rahman is ready to fight terrorist organizations like Jabhat al-Nusra [Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS)] and ISIS.

However, many suspected that Faylaq al-Rahman could not fight HTS because HTS is Faylaq al-Rahman main ally in the Eastern Ghouta region, according to pro-government and opposition sources.

Faylaq al-Rahman claimed in an official statement that it supported the de-escalation agreement from the beginning. However, Faylaq al-Rahman statement didn’t mention anything about fighting ISIS or HTS. The group claimed that more info will be released in a press conference on August 21.

A SAA source from the frontline in the Jobar district east of Damascus told SF that HTS and Faylaq al-Rahman fighters have many joint positions in the area. This joint work will be the biggest challenge for the de-escalation agreement.

The Faylaq al-Rahman participation in the de-escalation agreement started at 21:00 Damascus time on August 18.

Eastern Ghouta is excluded from the ceasefire so that faction with HTS are actually DAESH along with HTS.
