Events In Aleppo From The Turkish Perspective

A brief report on Turkish interests in the recent events in northern Syria.

1 – The recent fall of Aleppo to Hayat Tahrir al-Sham should be seen as an important message from Turkey to Assad. From Ankara’s perspective, Assad has gone too far when he has been resisting Erdogan’s hand of friendship for the last six months. It is extremely important for Turkey to restore diplomatic relations with Syria, primarily because of the Chinese Silk Road project. Therefore, the current escalation should be seen as something like “forcing Assad to peace”, as a Turkish journalist Hakki Ocal put it.

2 – The alliance of the Kurds from the YPG with the Zionists became the main catalyst for the capture of Aleppo in order to prevent the expansion of the influence of Kurdish separatists. Previously, the highest officials of the Turkish Republic have repeatedly warned about the plans of Zionism to destroy Syria through the support of Kurdish separatism. In contrast to this alliance, the Turks are taking the initiative to support the integrity of Syria’s sovereignty and the elimination of all forms of terrorism. Therefore, the operation to seize Aleppo from Assad’s hands is tactical for Turkey in planning a larger-scale campaign to eliminate the self-proclaimed pro-Zionist “Rojava”.

In this context, it is worth listening to the words of Turkish experts. Retired Colonel Ibrahim Keleş said that

“if the Syrians do not take control of Aleppo, there is a high probability that the PKK will take control along with Tel Rifaat.” “The developments in relations between Israel and the PKK-YPG, such as the offer of Israeli citizenship to PKK members, give us a sign that Israel has entered Syria through Kurdish fighters.”

Associate Professor of Political Science and International Relations at Yeditepe University Dr. Furkan Kaya pointed out that “the PKK has settled in Deir ez-Zor and is trying to reach the Black Sea with the help of Israel.”

3 – Expanding territories free from terrorism and dictatorship for the presence and settlement of Syrian refugees. Economic problems and anti-Syrian sentiments of the majority of the Turkish population have led to the fact that Ankara needs to solve the refugee problem as quickly as possible and prevent major chaos, especially throughout northern Syria, so that there are no more problems similar to the current ones.

On this issue of refugees, I will quote General Ahmet Rahal, who leads the moderate insurgent units from the former FSA,

“We think that in addition to the rapid fall of Assad and Hezbollah in Syria, similar events will affect the People’s Protection Units, especially in Manbij, Tel Rifat and the surrounding regions. After which the Syrian opposition can breathe a sigh of relief, and the refugees can easily return to their homes.”

The rebel general voiced the figure of 2.5 million, which almost coincides with the number of Syrians in Turkey. Thus, the arguments about refugees find logical confirmation, especially against the background of about five million refugees inside the province of Idlib, thus the Syrians simply need to be resettled as soon as possible, although along the north-east of Syria.

Now a brief explanation on the situation between Turkey and Iran amid the escalation in Aleppo.

In response to the recent events in Syria, Ismail Bekaei, the spokesman for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, “warned against the resurgence of takfiri terrorist groups in Syria and called for decisive, coordinated action to prevent the spread of terrorism in the region.” A week earlier, Ali Larijani, the speaker of Iran’s Islamic Consultative Council, told local media that during his visit to Damascus, he told the Syrians that the Turks and Saudis were serious about restoring relations with Assad. For his part, Larijani stressed that Tehran welcomed diplomatic progress between the countries. Thus, two signals are coming from official Iran: coordination with all major actors and the fight against the Takfiri threat. At the same time, according to the Syrian rebels, the Iranian presence and Hezbollah were not noticed, with the exception of the Iranian military adviser – Pourhashemi, who was killed in the suburbs of Aleppo.

For their part, Turkish officials talk about the need for Syria’s sovereignty and the security of the Idlib zone, Aleppo is not mentioned. Hakan Fidan even stated that “Turkey is not involved” in the situation in Aleppo. Thus, it can be concluded that there is a process of covert coordination between the new Iranian administration and the Turkish establishment in Aleppo and the surrounding areas. For the Iranians, giving up some of their positions in Aleppo to the detriment of Assad may be revenge for his passive stance towards the Zionists, when in the midst of the battles between Hamas and Hezbollah, the Baath government silently watched what was happening. Now the Iranians can afford to silently watch the collapse of Assad’s bastions inside Syria, especially since the forces affiliated with Turkey pose no threat to Iran and Hezbollah.

Apparently, the Iranians agreed with the Turkish arguments regarding the Kurdish threat, and in return, the Turks made it clear to Tehran that support for the jihadists is situational and temporary, and that this tandem has no future. Considering the attempts to poison Julani in Idlib and the creation of a counterweight to him in the form of the “national Syrian army”.

Finally, some thoughts about Turkey and Jabhat Nusra.

For the Turks, Jabhat Nusra (Tahrir al-Sham) is not just a dead weight, it is the main enemy in terms of ideology (the Turkish view of Islam sees the jihadists-takfiris as the main enemies of political Sufism). Since 2014, pro-Turkish organizations have been trying to challenge the status of Jabhat Nusra as a leader for opposition-minded Syrians. However, common enemies (Kurds, ISIS, Assad) have made Ankara and Tahrir al-Sham temporary fellow travelers, at different times and at a certain stage. Ankara can liquidate the leaders of Nusra at any time, and in the end it will, but there are two more reasons why the Turks are waiting for a certain time, the first reason is to find an option to fill the vacuum among the Salafi community after the liquidation of Nusra, the second reason is their own security, because hundreds of thousands of Nusra supporters live in Turkey, including among the Syrians. Therefore, the Turks must first get rid of the Syrian refugees, establish a civilian council to govern the Syrian territories loyal to them, and then begin the process of eliminating the radicals.

As confirmation of the various plans of this tandem, it is necessary to show the difference in the goals of Turkey and the jihadists, if the pro-Turkish forces immediately after the fall of Aleppo hurried to open fronts against the Kurds in the direction of the northeast, then the Tahrir al-Sham detachments continue to break through to the villages and towns held by Assad’s troops. As an example pro-Turkish opposition groups called the fight against YPG – “the dawn of freedom.” The jihadists rushed toward Hama. Turkey has shown Assad and Nusra its claims on Aleppo, the fight against PKK affiliates is a priority, but this is only temporary. Turkey’s next target may be yesterday’s allies.

The Turks have repeatedly warned Julani not to create problems for the moderate opposition and not to provoke Assad’s forces in Idlib. Previously, the jihadists saw the United States as the main ally in the destruction of the Assad government, now the radicals are flirting with the Russian Federation. Yesterday’s Jihadists went so far as to call Iraqis, more than half of whom are Shiites, “brothers.” The “progressive” nature of the communication from the former stars of the “holy war” has the goal of finding a compromise for all participants in the conflict. On the other hand, whether it is possible to find a trace of Turkish intelligence here, time will tell. It is worth remembering that just half a year ago, the majority of the Syrians in Idlib called Julani “the second Assad”, accusing the leader of the Salafist rebels of dictatorship.

The end is near.

yes. a blog that provides alternative views to what some people are used to here. not anti-russian or anti-iranian. just purely objective and uses fact-based opinions. no censorship in any form. comments can be up to 200 – 300 words. it’s for people who want to engage in civil conversations on any issue. people who want to disagree respectfully and without censorship.

mr. nazarov knows well what turkey’s position is. you know that from his previous anti-shiite and anti-iraqi/sistani posts. the same sistani who ordered hashd shabi to enter this war now.

syria suffering because there was a country between two power fronts. they have to be smart to surf the strongest waves from the ocean of world powers confrontation. anyways, they still have chances to stay on their own feet with support from turkey without losing sovereignty.

no good can come of dealing with erdogan. syria would be well-advised to stay firmly in the iranian/russian camp if they wish to maintain their sovereignty.

the only support syria will ever get from a snake like erdogan is the same kind of support a hanged man gets from the rope around his neck.

this doesn’t give any sense. why would iran let this happen to punish assad? this could bring syria down and therefore block the rout of weapons from iran to hezbollah. no it was planned all along to break syria and then to jump to iraq and finally iran.

Top

a lame analysis without any head, iran will never let syria fall into the hands of terrorist-zionists, turkey wants to annex syrian territories, the shaabi hashd are already in syria and the takfri-turkish-zionists are falling like flies.
your analysis is null and void, you can review very analyzes which are as null as you, zero points. pure propaganda. we would like to know the origin of this nazirov midge to see more clearly

keyboard warrior

yes. it wouldn’t make any sense that iran would leave syria now. syria has always been a very important allied to iran and i doubt they going to leave it now. the iraqis are in much better position now than 2014 and they will inflict great loses to the zio terrorist. the turks can not be trusted. erdogan want as big of a piece of syria as he can get and he is pushing his goons to do so.

Peppe il Sicario

in fact!!! the er dog has been supplying ukraine with drones, the bayraktar and even corvettes for its navy. not to mention all the armoured personnel carriers sent to ukraine. has the turkish goat herder sent anything to russia instead??? highly highly doubt it. his nose is still fresh with uncle shlomo fecal matter.

well, everybody’s can see what dirty game dog is playing. actually a scavenger shit hyena.

correct, from the start turkey supports terrorists, and always supports israel by providing it with oil and basic aid (medicines, food, etc.), it has annexed territories in syria, in iraq, erdoğan is a zionist snake pure juice. so if we follow this analysis of this nazaov gnat, the dead iranian general is cinema? the shaabi hashd who arrive in syria are coming for the holidays? turkey is against hezbollah and hashd shaabi and against al assad it is crystal clear

Huckelberry finn

those salafist groups are mostly uzbeks and tajiks (the crocus city hall scum) with support from ukrainians, brits and yanks. attacks started on day of the fake ceasefire between izr and hezb, not hard to put 2 and 2 together.

Al Bosni

absolutely agreed 👍 💯.

Al Bosni

maybe some wahhabi prick with loads of shekels.

Huckelberry finn

exactly, total nonsense from nazarov. if turkey wanted to destroy izr allied pkk, they’d attack pkk and not the syrian army, killing iranian and russian advisors. erdogan is a snake who forgot putin saved his azz in 2016.

Ökkeş

the mindset behind this writing must be that of a turkish agent. while russia and the turkish state engage in secret, dirty dealings to pave the way for the occupation of syria, the main target appears to be the kurds, who are being subjected to attempts at genocide. furthermore, attributing this new war, which began after israel’s threats to syria, to a supposed kurdish-israeli collaboration shows how vile the intentions are.

kotromanic

the usa uses the kurds (sdf) and the turks use the salafists (hts) as proxies to steal territory and ressources.

just like at the beginning of the war qatar used hts (then named differently) and the saudis isis.
after qatar left the war the turks took their place as supporters of hts. aditionally to their own pro turkic militants.

Al Bosni

al nusra front.

Gurki

kurds are too stupid always. if they were clever, they would restrict themselves to north-eastern iraq, build heir realm there, and just hjave some dozens of big outposts in countries like syria, turkey, iran etc. including ownership of big companies. that would be absolute sufficient. but no, they always want land from other nations – so finally they will get nothing but a big fat beating, like always and fully desevered.

Al Bosni

turks are also stupid beyond comprehension.

kotromanic

they are just like europeans they believe to benefit of such developments but they benefitted for a while but wont in the long run in the long term plan there is no stable europe nor turkey in the maps.

Tommy Lee

i don’t feel particularly sorry for the kurds. they push their degenerate social agenda and anarcho-communist ideology upon the people of northeastern syria. they’re basically just the same as hts but from the other end of the political spectrum.

Al Bosni

noone does.

The Kurd

so sf has become the mouthpiece of turkish propaganda now?

Baran ats

i am not diehard fan of turks but at least they don’t wave imperialist flag while begging for help, honorable charge.

The Kurd

they are part of nato and host american bases and israeli embassy. they change sides more often than they change their underwear. also sf left out the part where turkish backed terrorists downed the russian flag and stomped on it.

The Kurd

they, meaning turks who constantly change sides and deals* throughout the conflict kurds and assad did not fight each other while turks demanded assad to leave and supported all kind of terrorists, then they make deals with russia and wanting to start talks again with assad and now when russia and iran are busy…

Tadeus

i like treasonous turds

Tommy Lee

you kurds have done your part to destroy syria, same as the turks. you don’t deserve anyone’s sympathy.

one suspicious thing has been the evacuation of kurds from sheikh maksood, given passage to manbij. kurds are supposed to be the enemies of the turkish forces. so why do they kill saa soldiers instead of the kurds. i think there is also an angle we need to cover – the trumpberg – erdogan telephone conversation. ergodan and trumpberg have a bromance and erdogan is trying hard to impress him i think

this article was written by one of those ukronazi-zionist agents imbedded with the erdoganist terrorists in syria, so don’t take is seriously.

given the choice between libya and syria for location of naval and air bases, i’d plump for libya every time.

jaredX

well, i am not really knowledgeable about facts on the ground but i get the impression that syria is not able to defend itself against any number of malign actors. this weakness make it a void ripe for plunder and taking. perhaps it would be best if turkey seizes it, because the alternative is us/israel – likely they will split it. russia cannot continue to prop-up assad, just offer him refuge. weak countries are “fair” game in the real world.

exactly, that’s the point! turkey and iran need to make deal, and with combined forces can prevent usrael from occupying syria. but yes turkey will take back northern syria, as this territory was stolen from it by french-british illegal contracts (treaty of sevres and lausanne) after ww1.

wrong. france, the colonial power, gave part of syria (idlib) to turkey in 1939, in the hope of getting turkish support in ww2.
