Situation in the area of the predominantly Kurdish city Diyarbakir in southeastern Turkey is becoming more difficult. According to the latest information civilians are fleeing en masse from the town, after 23 persons have been killed in the armed clashes – 20 Kurdish fighters and 3 members of Turkish security forces

Fierce armed clashes have continued yesterday in the are of the old city centre in Diyarbakir. 24 hour long curfew was extended yesterday for another five boroughs in Diyarbakir.

At the same time clashes are continued in the area of the town of Cizre at the Syrian border where, according to the statements of the Turkish army, 11 members of the Kurdish rebel organization PKK have been killed.
