On January 14th, Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar left Moscow without signing the Libya ceasefire.

After more than eight hours of talks, the head of Libya’s Government of National Accord (GNA) Fayez al-Sarraj signed the deal.

The Libyan National Army’s Commander Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar left without signing the agreement, after asking for the night think it over, said Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.

“The draft [agreement] ignores many of the Libyan army’s demands,” Haftar was quoted as saying by the Al Arabiya television network.

On his way back, Haftar’s airplane avoided Turkish airspace and flew a longer distance for that purpose.

On January 13th, inter-Libyan negotiations were held with the participation of representatives of the Russian Federation and Turkey.

The GNA Foreign Minister Mohamed Taher Siala told RIA Novosti, that the GNA delegation signed an agreement, and then went to Istanbul.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the Moscow talks on Libya “highly productive”, despite the refusal of the commander of the Libyan National Army (LNA) Khalifa Haftar to sign the ceasefire.

“Initially, Haftar said yes, and then no, and, unfortunately, he departed from Moscow without signing. Our colleagues put their signatures, we completed our part, the rest is in Mr. Putin’s field,” Erdogan said.

Erdogan noted that, despite this, he is ready to take part in the conference on Libya in Berlin on January 19th.

According to him, representatives of Germany, Russia, Italy, the United Arab Emirates and the United States will take part in the meeting to assess the situation.

Erdogan also stressed that Ankara is ready to “teach Haftar a lesson.”

“We will not hesitate to teach a lesson to the putchist Haftar if he continues his attacks on the country’s legitimate administration and our brothers in Libya,” he said.

Erdogan further said that Libya was a legacy of the Ottoman empire and that Turkey had to protect it.

“Libya is a legacy of the Ottoman Empire and we have our Kuloğlu children there. We must defend them.”

During the meeting, the parties discussed the possibility and conditions of de-escalation in the region, but failed to reach consensus.

The negotiations did not include the GNA and LNA leaders meeting face to face, but Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said there was “progress” and that Haftar viewed the ceasefire document “positively,” despite not signing it.

On January 14th, the LNA Spokesperson posted on Facebook that they were “ready and determined” to achieve victory in their months-long campaign to seize the capital from the GNA.

Clashes in Tripoli are continuing, currently at a smaller scale.

Heavy gunfire was reported in Salah al-Din and Ain Zara in Tripoli.

The LNA is preparing to renew its offensive in full force, as the GNA reported the enemy was positioning its forces to the south of Tripoli and preparing for an attack.

Mustafa Mehmet

yes let the game start moron. behind you watch it

Zionism = EVIL

There are reports that Russia is getting fed up with the dumbass arsehole Erdogan and his Ottoman delusions. The stupid Turkeys lost 17 conflicts with Russia and 40% of their territory since Peter the Great and now Erdogan may lose whatever is left of the Anatolian peasant shithole. Erdogan’s desperate attempt to steal Libyan oil and gas like his Americunt and Zionist masters are doing in Syria and Iraq may prove to be the last straw. So far the Turkey cowards are sending the Wahhabi terrorist headchoppers to die in Libya, but that is not going to work out and soon it will be show time. Popcorn ready!

Mustafa Mehmet

Do take ur blood pressure tablets. or not just drop dead fuc… ING zioniz cunt fuck offff

Zionism = EVIL

Dumbass Turkeys are pimp cowards who lost every war to Russia. Buy a book and read your pathetic loser history.

Mustafa Mehmet

Yeah. scumbag go and jump front of the fast train.. s*******

Johan

There for they waited until WWII was practically finished, by 3 or 4 weeks and only there was still fighting 1000km away of Turkey so there was no risqué any more to enter the war on the side of the allies. Nobody would dare to say that it was because they where cowards, just the timing you know.

Johan

I must say this is one of the most intelligent and substantiated reaction I ever saw. You must have taken your time to be so accurate. Or is this a genetic trait of you Turks. I only would like the sound added!

Putin is using Erdogan. He has been using him since day 1.
The meeting in Moscow with Haftar was smoke-screen.

All to make Erdogan believe that Putin is the honest deal – broker….

Putin gets Erdogan to ease up in Syria and let ASSAD clear all the dirty jihadis in Idlib cause Erdogan believes he ll get something in Libya…

But Putin has bigger deals going on with Egypt’s Sisi…And Sisi supports Haftar…
Egypt buys tanks and jet fighters and anti-aircraft / missile weapons from Russia while Turkey only has got that S400 deal …

Erdogan is being led to a deep hole on the ground and he ll drug down Turkey with him…

Mehmet Aslanak

Those kuloglu dudes he meant, Mistrata city has a Turkic/Ottoman heritage people.

EveryoneIsBiased

Yeah, and in every country with a few % of Turks you have the right to intervene and break international law.
Sure.

Mehmet Aslanak

Not sure Erdogan breaks the international law. GNA invited him to save the capital city from falling. Afterall GNA is the one UN recognized, but no one helps them to save their aßes.

Ivanus59

If that’s what this is all about then Libyans should send those “Kuloğlu” to Turkey via cargo ship, then Turkey will have an easier time “protecting” them when they’re in Turkish territory.

Dick Von Dast'Ard

I don’t see Hafta getting any further Russian assistance now.

He had a chance.

Erdogan is more important to Putin than Haftar.

Johan

I think Erdogan needs to have a lesson so he knows his place: together with the other unreliable traitors and useful idiots. Actually he is no more then a blown up dictator of a third world country making waves, still. And Putin knows this as no one else, he tolerate, use and flatter or punish him when needed. Erdogan is only a pion in the big boys chess game, undermining himself his and Turkish future. Within 5 year Turkey will be Europe’s poor men country due to the fantastic Erdogan capabilities, but of course and as usual you always can blame the west for your own bad choices and inactivity.

Anastasis

The Syrian problem continues to exist and will continue for a long time. Whatever happens in Syria, Erdogan will transport it to Libya. Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar’s decision not to sign the ceasefire is a sound strategy. Where the Turks invaded they never left. . They will go away only with war.And look at the Astana meeting, December 2019[edit]
The delegations of Turkey, Iran, and Russia arrived in Kazakhstan’s capital, Nur-Sultan (former Astana), on 10 December 2019 for two days of trilateral talks known as the Astana process.[109]
The talks ended without any definitive ceasefire agreement, reportedly due to the anti–government side’s refusal to accept new Russian terms regarding control of the province.[110]

, priest fiddlers on the roof again

The Saint

Erdogan’s efforts at neo-ottoman imperialism have been a monumental failure and a rather pathetic joke.

Ivan Freely

I can’t see the GNA winning this fight even with Turkey at it’s side. Haftar will take Libya sooner or later.

Theodor Stahlberg

Erdo’s performance made sure that all libyan tribes would rise up on Haftars call for an all people’s war against the imported jihadists including turkish army contingent. The islamists’ government has no more chance to survive – whatever Erdo and the supporting West will do. LNA and its supporters are clever enough to lead the campaign into a clean finish in Tripolis.

Johan

If you have to choose to share a room with Erdogan ore with a cobra, share it with the cobra it is acting fare more reliable and less dangerous as Erdogan. Erdogan is a giant on mud feeds ready to tumble down, grapping around als long has he stands, still. He is hated, maximal tolerated by the rest of the world and hated by 50% of the Turkish people and growing, the rest of the Turkish people are dummies indoctrinated by their illiterate, iman ‘s, diyanet, and the muslim brotherhood, just from the world estranged or living disconnected and manipulated by the regime. He only want to withdraw the attention of the mess he made everywhere and build attention on cheap nationalism that he can not afford while the Turkish people suffer and commit suicide because of his ignorance and repressiveregime. But he will tumble his fundation is giving away, minute by minute.

Johan

Only the deviation of Haftar’s flight around Turkey give’s you an idea how the world, Haftar and Putin think about Erdogan. Reliability =g 0, rationality= 0, trust = 0. No other country , except Iran of course has such a trust issue As Erdogans Turkey.
