Turkey will deploy troops in Syria’s Idlib province under as part of a “de-escalation” agreement reached by Ankara, Tehran and Moscow within the Astana format of talks on the Syrian conflict, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan told Reuters in an interview on Thursday.
Erdogan described the US as a strategic partner of Turkey and said that the US decision to arm Kurdish militias in Syria could lead to hurting the US allies.
Ankara described Kurdish YPG and YPJ forces [a core of the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces] as a Syrian branch of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK), a separatist militant group aiming to establish a Kurdish state in Turkey.
Earlier on Thursday, reports appeared that Turkey deployed additional forces on the border with Syria’s Idlib province additionally to 80 armoured vehicles and 18 MRAPs deployed earlier. According to local sources, it’s clear that Ankara is preparing for a military operation inside Syria.
so???…..
turkey do syria a favor and wipe out the scum in idlib and SDF
There are no SDF in Idlib provincce , what is the logic here ?
Turkey does not like HTS much.
But Turkey was supporting them the other day, weren’t they?
FSA is their favourite…..HTS is a little wild card in the poker game.financed by many states but not controlled by Turkey as it would like.
I know, I meant in general
Have we forgot what turkey has done ? Have we forgot how they left their borders open for scum to enter and leave as they please… provided them hospitals and bought Syrias gas and oil. Please, the only thing we want from turkey and the rest of the world is to stay out of syrias affairs.
that was before Russia turned the game around. Turkey had its one plans that failed failed failed……so now Turkey adapts to the new situation. Supports only FSA their favourite terrorist group in the area. noone else. So because FSA is not a very good puppet of HTS-US any more and it gets attacked almost everywhere from former allies, Turkey comes to the resque. In diplomatic level they are well known for their ‘moderate’ label. they deal with RUssia and Syria to establish cease fire zones etc. one the other hand HTS attacks Russian troops in Hama (military police to guard the safe zone). so they are the bad terrorists .
Doesn’t look like they’re leaving anytime soon under the deescalation agreement they signed, so they should start being useful for the time being right?
I havent! The turks can not be trusted! Not then ,not now!
They were traffickers of euro women and boy sex slaves one hundred years ago and now murder and take body parts of syrian orphans now.
I have seen the pictures!
and nobody asks assad :/
You don’t know that, Solomon…. but it is unlikely.
i will be happy, if i am wrong
It was agreed with the Russians who militarily control all decisions AS AGREED BY Assad and the Syrian Generals.
i think the kurdish advance in deir ezoor probably violated an agreement with assad which led him to permit this turkish agression to fuck up the sdf. The turks bought the s400 which the russians provided quickly so the turks will be safe from possible american air attacks.
There’s no way that the US would ever attack the Kurds. You’d be silly to think otherwise
He is saying the Americans may want to attack the Turks
I know… and I’m saying that there’s no way the Americans will ever attack the Turks.
Maybe they should not have funded the SDF then against Turkish wishes.
My bad.. I just looked over this properly, I meant to say “Turks” when I wrote Kurds.. it must’ve been auto correct
Im doubting that as no plane been knocked down yet has it.?
The turks must consider those M-60s surplus if they send them into a battlefield against ATGMs. I’d rather walk myself
No army will deploy its advanced tanks into the battlefield first. It was the same for Euphrates Shield too. M-60s went first, then replaced by Leopards.
They have no advanced tanks. Leopard 2A4s and Sabras were deployed together. Regular M-60s were kept back.
I am pretty shure that photo is not from actual deployment, but more of an illustration.
SAA is overrated and they are still proven nor have they been fighting with their own forces so I fail to see all this gibberish coming from them..
They have been heavily relying on foreign intervention and superpowers coming fighting for them such as Russia and The US against their enemies and also regional countries arriving to fight on their behalf.
The Kurds know how weak both SAA and the Iraqi gov’t is. They watched and saw only 15.000 ISIS members nearly take over both countries alone and if it was not for the foreign intervention both Syria and Iraq would have been ISIS right now and you can even add Lebanon on top of it.
SAA never really fought a fight for themselves and won. Peshmerga and SDF could defeat both Iraq and Syria without any foreign intervention.
They are the best fighters in the region by far in my opinion
