Egyptian Army Kills Dozens Of ISIS Members In Sinai Peninsula (Video)

On May 10, Egyptian Army spokesman Colonel Tamer Rifai announced in an official statement that the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) had destroyed 3 positions and a vehicle of ISIS in the Sinai Peninsula during the last weeks. The EAF airstrikes killed at least three ISIS fighters, according to the army spokesman.

Col. Rifai added that the Egyptian Army units had continued its security operation in the Sinai Peninsula killing 18 fighters of ISIS and capturing 5 others. Egyptian soldiers also captured 30 vehicles, 40 motorcycles and two camels, which were used by smugglers and ISIS fighters to move around Sinai.

The Egyptian Army also discovered and destroyed 391 hideouts and more than 15 tranches of ISIS during its security operations in the Sinai Peninsula, according to Col. Rifai.

The last week didn’t witness any major operations by ISIS cells in the Sinai Peninsula. However, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq reported that an Egyptian Army soldier had been killed by a sniper of ISIS south of the city of Rafah on May 9.

The Egyptian Army launched a large military operation against ISIS cells in the Sinai Peninsula, codenamed “Sinai 2018,” on February 9. Since then, the terrorist group has managed to carry out a very few attacks in Sinai, which indicates the success of the Egyptian Army’s tactics.
