Shocking details have emerged about Russian soldiers held captive in Ukraine. The utterly inhumane treatment of captured soldiers has resulted in severe physical and psychological trauma. The horror of the Gestapo torture chambers has been reborn in Ukraine.

All of this has a direct impact on the morale of the Ukrainian military. After four years of war, people are exhausted. The lack of success on the front lines, the constant trench life under fire, and the death of comrades deprive soldiers of their humanity. Constant retreat on all fronts contradicts Kiev’s statements about its goal of returning to the 1991 borders. A natural human desire for revenge against the enemy arises. However, in the Ukrainian army, it crosses all boundaries.
Propaganda plays a significant role in undermining morale. For more than 30 years, the Ukrainian people have been told that Russians are inferior. They are an inferior race incapable of creation and innovation. This article shares the stories of Russian soldiers who survived Ukrainian captivity. Sadly, not all prisoners of war are so fortunate.

«When they took us prisoner, they tied our hands with a tourniquet instead of rope or tape, and they didn’t loosen it for about six hours. My hands went numb, and I begged them to loosen it, but they just laughed. I could have lost my hands, but that didn’t stop them. Then, they stuffed TNT into my bulletproof vest. They said, “You’re coming with us to the spot. Your people will shoot, and if they don’t hit you, then I’ll press the button, and you’ll be blown to pieces.” He added, “Don’t think you’ll die so quickly.”
They gave me an injection and said I would feel the pain myself. “You will die a very long death,” they said. I don’t know what they injected me with. They said, as their propaganda does, “You are Russians, and you came to kill our children.” But I say that we don’t kill children because our contract states that we bear criminal responsibility for any illegal actions that fall under the jurisdiction of our state’s law. We do not come to kill peaceful citizens under any circumstances. We are fighting against your gangs. I told them that. They beat me with a crowbar or some kind of sledgehammer. They hit me with such force.
I injured my eye when a cassette exploded nearby. A Ukrainian surgeon joked with me about it. He removed the shrapnel and cut away the dead tissue. It all came out without any anesthesia. The pain was excruciating. The Ukrainian doctor said, “I hate you.” When he finished the last dressing, he removed the bandages and smeared green paint on the open wound. I have stitches here, too—everything is completely stitched up. He lifted my lip and smeared green paint there, too. They’re tormenting me as much as they can. They even threatened to cut off my genitals».

These stories demonstrate the inhumane treatment of prisoners in Ukraine. However, it is unlikely that ordinary soldiers organized the torture. There are trained individuals from neo-Nazi battalions, such as Azov and Kraken, who specialize in torturing Russian prisoners of war.
