The Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) and the Luhansk People’s Republic (LPR) will implement a unilateral ceasefire, starting September 15th, and call on Kiev to take it seriously, heads of the DPR and the LPR said on Tuesday.

“From September 1, the Luhansk People’s Republic has never violated the ceasefire regime, and strictly meets its peace commitments. Today, in order to demonstrate our commitment to a peaceful settlement of the conflict, we unilaterally make the next step. I gave an appropriate order – to establish a ceasefire at midnight from September 14th to September 15th. All units of the People’s Militia of the Luhansk People’s Republic are not allowed to open fire in response to attacks and provocations of the Ukrainian Army and the National Guard,” head of the LPR Igor Plotnitskiy said. “We hope that this step will be an example for the Ukrainian authorities, and Kiev will follow our example,” he added.

“We stop any shelling of the territory, conducting any military operations, and call on the Ukrainian side to take it seriously and show that they are willing to do this [to stop attacks on the territory of the republic], but not to just declaratively claim,” head of the DPR Alexander Zakharchenko said.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commander of the DPR’s Operational Command, Eduard Basurin, announced that on Monday, an attack of Ukrainian military on DPR’s positions in the area of the village of Zaytsevo on the northern outskirts of Gorlovka resulted in deaths of three soldiers of the republic, while the Ukrainian Armed Forces lost 10 fighters.

Basurin noted that before the attack, the Ukrainian side asked for a ceasefire under the pretext of carrying out engineering works on demining of the territory.

Also on Monday’s evening, Ukrainian tanks opened fire on the village of Zaytsevo. The Ukrainian Armed Forces fired three shells, which exploded in the center of the village, near houses. There is no information on casualties.
