Unable to develop any strategic success in the south, the Ukrainian military remains active in the Black Sea. Ukrainian forces attempt rare operations on the Zmeiny Island and launch attacks on the drilling rigs in the western waters of the Black Sea in an attempt to gain a foothold to launch strikes with drones and unmanned boats on the Russian Crimean peninsula.

Another Ukrainian attack was repelled on the night of September 11. The Russian Ministry of Defense officially confirmed the incident. Some details were later reported by local sources.

The Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine sent servicemen of the Special Operations Forces of the Ukrainian Navy on fourteen American Willard Sea Force boats to capture the Crimea-2 drilling rig at the Golitsyn gas field west of Crimea. According to the official report, as a result of the battle, forces of the Russian Black Sea Fleet sank 8 enemy sea boats and destroyed up to 80 Ukrainian servicemen of the Special Operations Forces. Six more Ukrainian boats retreated. When fleeing, they did not even try to evacuate the wounded Ukrainian servicemen who remained in the water.

Ukrainian forces massively used small FPV drones that they launched from the speed boats. They used MANPADS against aircraft of the Russian Aerospace Forces which were pounding Ukrainian boats from cannons and other weapons.

According to local reports, the Su30SM of the Russian Aerospace Forces crashed in the Black Sea. It could be shot down during the battle with Ukrainian assault group; but the local sources cannot officially confirm the reason of the incident. Two Russian pilots died.

The Russian Ministry of Defense noted that another “media operation” of the Kiev regime in the Black Sea area was timed to the arrival of high representatives of the United States and European countries to Ukraine on September 11. As a result, the operation “drowned in blood and claimed the lives of many dozens of Ukrainian servicemen”.

This is far from the first bloody attempts of the Ukrainian military to capture Russian drilling rigs in the Black Sea. A year ago, Ukrainian soldiers were drowning trying to land on the Russian sea drilling facilities over and over again despite losses and lack of any results. Amid the defeats of the Ukrainian military in all frontlines, Kiev’s forces pushed by NATO warmongers have to bring at least any victories to the MSM headlines. They are likely to continue their senseless bloody operations in the Black Sea.
