Afghanistan said on October 12 that its forces killed over 50 Pakistani soldiers in overnight border operations, in response to what it called repeated violations of its territory and airspace.

Two days earlier, the country accused Pakistan of launching strikes against the capital, Kabul, and a market in the province of Paktika. The strikes reportedly targeted senior members of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), which is more commonly known as the Pakistani Taliban, including the group’s leader Noor Wali Mehsud.

Pakistan and the Taliban have fallen out since the United States withdrawal from Afghanistan in 2020, with Islamabad accusing Kabul of backing the TTP more than once.

The Afghan Defense Ministry said in a statement its forces had conducted “retaliatory and successful operations” along the border with Pakistan.

“If the opposing side again violates Afghanistan’s territorial integrity, our armed forces are fully prepared to defend the nation’s borders and will deliver a strong response,” the ministry added.

Later, government’s chief spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, said that Afghan forces captured 25 Pakistani military posts, killing 58 soldiers and wounding 30 others during the operations.

“The situation on all official borders and de facto lines of Afghanistan is under complete control, and illegal activities have been largely prevented,” Mujahid told a press conference in Kabul.

The spokesman also acknowledged that nine Afghan soldiers were killed and 16 wounded in the retaliatory border operations.

A senior Pakistani security official told Reuters that Afghan forces opened fire in several northwestern border areas in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, including the districts of Chitral, Bajaur, Mohmand, Angoor Adda and Kurram.

Pakistani troops responded with heavy weaponry near Tirah in Khyber district and across the frontier in Afghanistan’s Nangarhar province, according to the official.

Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned what he said were “provocations by Afghanistan,” vowing to respond.

“There will be no compromise on Pakistan’s defense, and every provocation will be met with a strong and effective response,” he said in a statement, accusing Taliban authorities in Afghanistan of allowing their land to be used by “terrorist elements”.

Reuters, citing local officials, reported that Pakistan has already closed two main border crossings with Afghanistan, at Torkham in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Chaman in the province of Balochistan, in addition to three minor crossings in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, at Kharlachi, Angoor Adda and Ghulam Khan.

Meanwhile, Afghanistan’s TOLOnews reported that the Defense Ministry is deploying tanks and heavy weapons in several areas of Kunar province on the border with Pakistan.

Pakistani strikes later hit the province of Kandahar in Afghanistan, with Pakistani media reports suggesting that the target was the Taliban’s Asmat Ullah Karar Camp.

The two sides have clashed with each other on multiple occasions since the U.S. withdrawal, but the ongoing round of clashes is without a doubt the most serious.

Interestingly, the escalation began right after President Donald Trump threatened the Taliban with “bad things” if does not hand back the strategic Bagram Airfield to the U.S.

“If Afghanistan doesn’t give Bagram Airbase back to those that built it, the United States of America, BAD THINGS ARE GOING TO HAPPEN,” Trump said in a Truth Social post on September 20.

Pakistan is a major non-NATO ally of the U.S., but it is of course unlikely to start a war against the Taliban for the sake of Washington.

That being said, the issue of the TTP is very real for Pakistan, and it is not completely impossible that the recent strikes on the group’s senior members in Afghanistan were the result of some cooperation with American intelligence. In any case, the U.S. stands to win big from such a war between the two countries.

the syrian interim government has begun direct and explicit harassment of teaching staff participating in the ongoing strike in the syrian coastal areas.
these harassments came after the strike expanded widely in the cities and towns of the region. according to sources from the syrian observatory for human rights, the strike rate reached about 95% in the city of qardaha, with a full strike in its countryside, and 90% in the cities of

latakia and jableh, in addition to a comprehensive strike in the jableh countryside.
a number of teachers confirmed to the syrian observatory that they had received direct messages threatening dismissal if they continued the strike. the education directorates also accused some teachers of ”inciting the suspension of work”. this prompted some of them to return to school for fear of losing their jobs.

Russian PIG

in parallel, a number of activists and well-known figures on the syrian coast received death threats afterpublishing posts on social media calling for the strike to continue. protests continue in schools on the syrian coast, specifically in the city of latakia, for the third day in a row, denouncing the kidnapping of the child muhammad haider by unknown gunmen in broad daylight in front of his school in the city.
the strike of students and teachers also continues amid widespread popular

discontent, due to the inability of the responsible authorities to reveal the fate of the child so far, despite the passage of four days since the kidnapping incident.
the tenth project neighborhood in the city of latakia is witnessing protests in which a large number of residents participate, demanding the disclosure of the fate of the child muhammad haider, who was kidnapped four days ago in front of “jamal daoud” school in broad daylight.

Russian PIG

in this context, the protesting residents were subjected to direct threats by the security authorities affiliated with the damascus government, which obligated students to attend school and prevented the protests from spreading outside the scope of the tenth project, in an attempt to limit the continuation of protest movements in latakia.
this is while the family of the kidnapped child continues to suffer for the fourth day in a row, amid the absence of any information about his fate, while the

competent authorities are still unable to determine the identity of the perpetrators or his whereabouts.
four gunmen riding in a blue “santave” car kidnapped the child while he was on his way to school, in full view of passers-by and students, and no one was able to intervene. the child comes from the tenth project neighborhood in latakia.

of tension and popular anger, in light of the repeated incidents of kidnapping, killing, and security chaos thatthreaten the lives of civilians and raise residents’ concerns about the safety of their children.
in this regard, the syrian observatory for human rights renews its call on the concerned authorities to take immediate and urgent action to uncover the fate of the child muhammad haider, ensure a safe environment for students and teachers, and put an end to the worsening state of securi
