Contract to Supply New Delhi with S-400 Triumph to Be Signed after Meeting of Russian and Indian Presidents

The Russian-Indian contract for delivery the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems to India is expected to be signed on Saturday, media reported, citing an assistant of the Russian President, Yuri Ushakov. The contract will be signed after a personal meeting of the two presidents – Vladimir Putin and Narendra Modi.

According to the president’s assistant, supply of other Russian weapons and military hardware, including warships, to India are also discussed.

“Agreements on production frigates of the Project 11356 for the Indian Navy, as well as on creation of a joint venture – the Indian-Russian helicopter company for production of the Ka-226T helicopters will be signed. A bilateral military and military-technical cooperation is one of the main components of the Russian-Indian strategic partnership,” the Interfax news agency quoted the words of Ushakov.

The agreements on the S-400, the Ka-226T and frigates of the Project 11356 are not a complete package of agreements with India. According to Ushakov, “some aspects of the cooperation in the military-technical area will be signed behind closed doors.”

As for today, the S-400 Triumph anti-aircraft missile systems are in service only of the Russian Federation, including the deployment of the air defense missile systems in Syria. According to earlier data, since 2017, the S-400 will be supplied not only to India, but also to China. According to the developers, the S-500 newest system is on the way to the end of the production cycles.
