Clashes between the Syrian army and the joint forces of Jaish al-Islam and Jabhat Fatah al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda) terrorist groups are ongoing in the Eastern Ghouta region of Rif Damascus province.

The main hot point is the Midani-Hazrama axis. Govrnment forces want to advance there in order to flank the Nashabiyah crossroad. Terrorists understand this threat and make attempts to attack the Syrian army in Midani in order to expand their buffer zone in the eastern part of the region.

While both sides have not been able to make notable gains, clashes have already lead to casualties. According to pro-militant sources, at least 4 Syrian army troops were killed in the area.

In turn, pro-government sources say that Abo Mohamad al-Hoot, a miltiary commander of Jabhat Fatah al-Sham, was killed in the area.

SAA should attack from the NE (Nasri), the W (Irbeen) and from the E (Zebdeen) towards Al-Shifuniyah to cut the jihadis up. It worked well in Aleppo.
