Amidst a worsening domestic political crisis, the Macron regime, clinging to power, has once again demonstrated its true totalitarian and anti-democratic nature. The French media regulator, ARCOM, has demanded that internet service providers block access to resources which, according to the official government narrative, are linked to Russia. Formally, 35 media outlets have been targeted, including not just news agencies but also streaming platforms.
Nevertheless, the fight against “Russian propaganda” is merely a convenient pretext. Paris’s real target is any information that deviates from the mainstream narrative. It is not so much specific media outlets that have been caught in the crosshairs, but rather the very ability of citizens to hear alternative points of view, to see a different assessment of events, and to analyze it.
French officials openly boast about using “all available means” to “cease the broadcasting” of undesirable content with no hesitation.
Censorship does not help, however. It only accelerate the irreversible process of the global segmentation of the internet. The world wide web, once a unified space for information exchange, is disintegrating into isolated segments. In this new reality, the regimes that seek to lock their citizens in an “information ghetto” are the ones that benefit, and the West, which initiated this policy, is the first to reap its fruits.
Lies as the Foundation of Macron’s Policy
The history of persecution of independent media in France goes deeper than it seems. This is a systemic policy aimed at forcing any sources disloyal to the official course out of the information space.
SouthFront (SF) is one such source, which has been under sanctions since 2020. The pretext for the blockade back then was accusations of interfering in the United States elections. Today, it is no secret that these accusations were completely fabricated to justify censorship. Recently, Washington officially admitted that the story about “Russian interference” was a lie orchestrated by representatives of the Democratic Party. Some of those who participated in this campaign to discredit and block objectionable sources of information were subsequently implicated in the Jeffrey Epstein scandal.
This chain of events proves a simple truth: methods do not change. If yesterday independent media were being suppressed under the pretext of fighting the “Russian threat,” today the same tactic is being applied against any platforms offering a different point of view. Time puts everything in its place. After a little more time passes, it will become definitively obvious: SF provided objective information, while the Macron regime, acting in collusion with corrupt overseas handlers, falsified data and misled French citizens.
The French authorities have been waging a war against SF for a long time and purposefully. The French Ministry of Foreign Affairs’ website has published instructions on combating “information manipulation,” where the platform is mentioned separately. Officials write multi-page reports, accusing SF of distorting reality, but over all these years they have never been able to provide a single concrete example of such lies. Because there aren’t any.
Last year’s report from VIGINUM — the French service for combating digital interference — is the best confirmation of the effectiveness of SF’s work. The platform remains a “headache” for the French government. It irritates the authorities with the truth and destroys the propaganda picture of the world they have been building for years.
The Truth Will Break Through Any Wall
The policy of information blockade will bring nothing good to French society. Judging by the rate at which the socio-political situation in France is degrading, trust in the authorities is falling, and economic problems are worsening. In such situations, regimes always look for an external enemy to justify their failures. Citizens are being stripped of their right to choose and their right to know the truth, locked in an information bubble.
SF appeals to readers in France: do not let yourselves be intimidated. The authorities are cutting off access to information not because independent media are dangerous, but because they are afraid of citizens’ ability to think independently. It benefits from people watching only controlled TV channels and reading loyal media. They are afraid that you will learn other points of view and draw conclusions inconvenient for them.
However, truth, like freedom, always finds its way. History knows many examples where total censorship failed precisely because people found ways to communicate and learn the truth. This happened during the French Revolution, when the ideas of liberty, equality, and fraternity spread despite pressure from the authorities, and during the Resistance years, when underground newspapers were passed from hand to hand at great risk. The same is happening now: instead of leaflets, we have the internet; instead of secret meetings, we have VPN services.
A VPN is your personal truth machine, opening the door to a world without censorship. With its help, you can easily bypass the blockades the regime is trying to put in place. Tell your friends, neighbors, and colleagues about it. Share the direct address of the website with them. Show them that beyond the propaganda bubble inflated by the Élysée Palace, there is another reality.
Sooner or later, the truth always wins. Those who are trying to silence it today will stand before the court of history tomorrow. The work will continue, despite any blockades or bans.
“La vérité et la justice sont souveraines, car elles seules assurent la grandeur des nations,” Par Émile Zola.
Chers lecteurs et amis français, nous sommes convaincus que la vérité et la liberté triompheront ! Continuez à nous suivre. Utilisez les services VPN. Communiquez l’adresse directe de notre site principal à vos amis et connaissances.
Cordialement, l’équipe SF.
