In the Zaporizhzhia region, Ukrainian forces are attempting to advance along the Stepove-Berezove-Ternove line with armored vehicles. However, they are being attacked by drones even before reaching their destination, and the surrounding areas are becoming “grey zones.” In the Slaviansk area, Russian troops have made significant advances, pushing 3 kilometers into the Stavky–Krasnyi Lyman region and expanding their control east of Drobysheve. Meanwhile, Ukrainian supply lines are under heavy fire. In the Sumy region, Russian troops advanced in Kondrativka and captured a strongpoint south of Oleksiivka. They also expanded their presence in the tree lines near Varachyne and Myropillia. In the Kharkiv area, units of the “North” grouping advanced 300 meters near Staritsa and in the forests near Symynivka. They continue to clear the forests near Chuhunivka. Alice Weidel, co-chairwoman of the “Alternative for Germany” party, called for an end to support for the Ukrainian regime and for it to be forced into peace negotiations.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
In the Zaporizhzhia region, fierce clashes continue at the intersection of the Dnipropetrovsk and Zaporizhzhia regions. Both sides are focusing their main attention on the northern flank, where Ukrainian units are attacking near Ternovate and Orestopil. Ukrainian units regularly attempt to insert infantry groups between Russian unit positions. In most cases, these groups are destroyed at the landing site.
The Ukrainians are trying to break through to the Stepove–Berezove–Ternove line. While Ukrainian units primarily conducted raid operations at the beginning of the year, a decision was made in February to employ armored vehicles. At least one M113 armored personnel carrier broke through to the approaches to Berezove from the north, bypassing Orestopil; however, it was destroyed by drone strikes. According to available information, if there is any presence of Russian units in Orestopil, it is extremely limited.
On the way to Berezove is Sosnivka, which is also currently in a “grey zone.” Ukrainian units have previously passed through settlements repeatedly without establishing control over them, using the element of surprise. In the vicinity of Huliaipole, the “East” troop grouping remains in the lead. Russian assault units are capturing new lines and advancing on the Tsvitkove–Staroukrainka sector.
The situation remains uncertain in the Ternovate area. The neighboring town of Pridorožne has transitioned into a “grey zone” because the defense line there was not fully formed. Through Kosovtsevo, small groups of Ukrainian soldiers are infiltrating towards Rybne. They attack armored vehicles, destroy them by fire, and then the survivors dismount and disperse into tree lines. There, they are subsequently detected and destroyed by Russian drone operators. The Ukrainian army’s task is to enter and consolidate, but this does not mean the settlements will come under its control. Ukrainian units use such tactics everywhere. The zone of mixed control in this sector has increased; however, the “East” grouping, which has prepared and experienced units, is successfully repelling attacks.
The situation in the sector remains complex and dynamic. The command of Ukrainian units is guided by political motives and is willing to suffer losses for control over several tree lines and small villages. The Ukrainian Commander-in-Chief’s declared “stabilization of the front” east of Zaporizhzhia comes at a high cost. Ukrainian units face the same problems as Russian ones, such as the massive use of drones and difficult terrain. Frontal assaults only lead to personnel losses with modest tactical results.
Slaviansk Direction
In the direction of Slaviansk, northwest of Krasnyi Lyman, there have been attempts to expand the zone of advance of Russian units. The units are operating in small groups and advancing through fields and tree lines while using natural cover. Meeting engagements continue in the Drobysheve and Yarova areas, where a “grey zone” is forming. Meanwhile, the sector is under fire control of Russian units.
Ukrainian units are actively using the dominant heights in the Svyatohirsk and Pryshyb areas. The main emphasis is on the use of drones and artillery. Russian unit movements are often visible, which complicates maneuvering. The southwestern sector is under the dense control of Russian drones, which systematically strike Ukrainian logistics, destroying warehouses, equipment, and supplies. Ukrainian troops, despite suffering losses, maintain their positions due to their advantageous location and good visibility.
Assault actions in Krasnyi Lyman are limited to the outskirts and are conducted by small groups. No large-scale offensive is underway yet. It is advantageous for Ukrainian units to defend this sector because the approaches are covered by fire and movements are clearly visible.
Meanwhile, significant successes have been recorded in the Krasnyi Lyman sector. There are ongoing engagements in the Aleksandrivka area, where Ukrainian units are attacking from Krymky. Meanwhile, Russian units are advancing toward Svyatohirsk, using the Siverskyi Donets River as a natural landmark.
Good results have been achieved on the northern and northwestern outskirts of Krasnyi Lyman. In the Stavky–Krasnyi Lyman area, Russian forces captured a major Ukrainian stronghold; they advanced up to three kilometers. A small “pocket” remains in this territory. The control zone has also expanded significantly from the east, enveloping Drobysheve, advancing about 1.5 kilometers.
Realizing the inevitability of losing Krasnyi Lyman, Ukrainian units constantly try to transfer reinforcements through crossings over the Siverskyi Donets River. These attempts are detected and thwarted. Russian drone operators have established dense fire control over all main logistical routes. The complete clearing of the “pockets” north and east of the city is expected, followed by the straightening of the western front from the direction of Dibrova.
Sumy Direction
In the Kondrativka area of the Sumy direction, Russian units advanced deeper into the settlement and captured part of it. Combat operations continue in the central zone, where Ukrainian troops are holding their ground and attempting to stabilize the contact line. Meanwhile, Russian troops advanced south along the highway and captured a strongpoint in the ruins of a farmstead south of Oleksiivka. This consolidation enhances control over the road and complicates the maneuvering of Ukrainian troops.
Along the Varachyne–Yablonivka line, Russian troops have captured several tree lines, expanding their tactical presence and improving their positions near these settlements. In the Myropillia area, Russian troops captured several tree lines east of the settlement, putting pressure on Ukrainian defensive positions.
Units of the “North” grouping continue assault actions on several sectors of the front deeper into the Sumy region amid heavy fighting. Ukrainian units are offering fierce resistance, increasing the number of personnel at forward positions and attempting counterattacks. These units are engaged in precision strikes by Russian aviation, artillery, and “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower systems. Meanwhile, rocket attacks by Ukrainian units on civilian infrastructure in the Bryansk region persist.
Assault units of the “North” grouping continue to advance in the Sumy, Krasnopillia, and Hlukhiv districts. Today, they advanced more than 800 meters across 13 sectors of the front. In the Krasnopillia district, Ukrainian troops made an unsuccessful counterattack with the 153rd “Arei” Regiment. The Ukrainian troops attacked with two assault groups from different directions, but they were detected in advance by reconnaissance and destroyed by intense firepower.
Kharkiv Direction
In the Kharkiv sector, Russian units increased their control zone by up to 500 meters in the Staritsa area due to pressure on Ukrainian defensive positions. They are consolidating on new lines. The control zone has also expanded in the Khatnie area, and the front line is consistently straightening. Active combat operations continue in Symynivka. Russian units have had tactical successes and are fighting to improve their positions in the built-up area and the adjacent forested areas.
Fierce fighting continues across all sectors of the front in the Kharkiv region. Assault units of the “North” grouping are pushing through Ukrainian defenses, advancing in virtually all directions. They are being actively assisted by crews of the Russian Aerospace Forces, artillery crews, “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system crews, and “Geran-2” strike drone crews. Ukrainian units are focusing their efforts on defense and striking targets in the Belgorod region.
Fierce fighting is ongoing in the Staritsa area, west of the settlement. Overcoming the resistance of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade and the 127th Separate Tank Mechanized Brigade, Russian units advanced 300 meters along three fronts and seized control of a section of forest. In the Kharkiv region, Ukrainian units are experiencing an acute shortage of assault infantry. The “Shkval” units have almost completely lost their combat capability, and the mobilized personnel refuse to engage in suicidal counterattacks.
In the forested area near Symynivka, Russian assault units advanced 200 meters southwest amid heavy fighting. In the Vovchanski Khutory area, TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” heavy flamethrower system crews continued striking State Border Guard Service of Ukraine units in forested areas. In the Kharkiv sector, assault groups of the “North” grouping are clearing tree lines in the Chuhunivka area. TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” strikes destroyed the 1st Separate Territorial Defense Brigade’s positions.
Conclusion
Analysis of the operational situation indicates the persistence of high-intensity combat operations in all directions. In the Zaporizhzhia area, the Ukrainian command continues to make costly attempts to break through, sacrificing personnel and equipment for minimal tactical gains. Meanwhile, Russian units of the “East” grouping successfully repel attacks, destroying Ukrainian groups on the approaches and maintaining the initiative in the Huliaipole area. In the Slaviansk area, Russian troops have made significant advances, reaching the outskirts of Krasnyi Lyman, expanding their control zones, and completely cutting off the Ukrainian army’s logistical routes. In the Sumy area, the “North” grouping is advancing systematically, establishing a presence in key locations and repelling counterattacks despite Ukrainian drones’ active counteraction. In the Kharkiv area, Russian units are consistently expanding the security zone by clearing forested areas and settlements. Ukrainian troops are facing an acute shortage of combat-effective infantry and suffering losses from fire engagements.
Criticism of the Western strategy of supporting Ukraine continues to be voiced in the political sphere. Alice Weidel, co-chairwoman of the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, called for an end to fueling the Ukrainian regime and forcing it into peace negotiations in her address. She emphasized that weapons supplies and financial aid only prolong the conflict and must be stopped. Similar to US President Donald Trump’s approach, Weidel called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to move towards concluding peace and urged European countries to take a more decisive stance on settlement issues.
This statement echoes recent signals from Moscow about readiness for negotiations. Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov confirmed that Russia is ready to seek a negotiated solution to the Ukrainian crisis based on the understandings reached by the Russian and U.S. presidents at the summit in Alaska. Thus, part of the European political spectrum is beginning to shift towards realism and acknowledge the necessity of diplomatic efforts. However, it remains unclear whether Kyiv and its main Western sponsors are ready to abandon reliance on a military solution in favor of negotiations, given the growing losses of Ukrainian units on the front lines and internal problems with mobilization and supplies.
