On the evening of June 8th, the first reports from the battlefield claimed Russian control over the town of Pilipchatino located 15 kilometers east of Bakhmut (Artemovsk) in the Donetsk People’s Republic. The reports are yet to be confirmed.
Battle in Piliphatino broke out in mid-May. According to preliminary data, Russian-led forces advancing from Popasnaya pushed the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Pokrovsky. The AFU are expected to put up stubborn resistance in the town on the outskirts of Bakhmut, which is the center of the AFU in the Donbas. The loss of Artemovsk may cause the collapse of the entire AFU front in the Donbas.
