BREAKING: Blast in Ankara, At Least 37 Dead, 125 Injured

UPD.: The number of Ankara blast victims has risen to at least 162. So far the authoroties confirmed that at least 37 people lost their lives and 125 have been injured. 71 people are being treated in the hospital with 15 in a serious condition.

Turkish health minister said that at least one or two of the dead individuals were the attackers.

Around 6:41 pm local time, an explosion shook the Turkish capital Ankara. According to local media, a car bomb caused the blast, killing at least 33 and injuring 75 people. Nobody has yet taken responsibility for the crime.

The explosion was caused by a car bomb going off near a bus stop, said the governor’s office in a statement.

A senior security official says the blast appears to have been a suicide car bombing.

The Ankara Chamber of Medicine announced that at least 150 people were carried to hospitals with ambulances.

The panic in the city is well expected and could be seen from the videos.

 

This is yet another hit for country which has been a target of similar blast, lately. The explosion was the third in the city in five months. It was just three weeks after a suicide car bombing in the capital targeted buses carrying military personnel, killing 29 people.

An interesting fact is that two days ago, the American Embassy in Ankara warned its citizens of possible terrorist attacks in the area where the car exploded.
