Bloody PR Stunt: How Ukraine's Flag-Raising Assault in Toretsk Ended in Disaster

In a brazen violation of the three-day ceasefire announced ahead of Victory Day celebrations, Ukrainian forces launched a reckless media assault on Toretsk (Dzerzhinsk) on the morning of May 8, aiming to stage a propaganda victory rather than achieve any meaningful military gain. The operation, intended to plant a Ukrainian flag in the city center and film it for Western audiences, ended in complete failure, with all attacking forces destroyed by Russian troops. Details of the failed operation are being revealed.

The Ukrainian military command, seeking to undermine Russia’s 80th anniversary of Victory Day, ordered a mechanized assault into Toretsk with one clear objective: to hoist a Ukrainian flag on a building and film it with a drone, creating the illusion of control over the city. The attack, carried out in blatant disregard for the truce, was not designed to hold territory but to generate media hype, which was a desperate attempt to overshadow Russia’s commemorations.

However, the plan quickly unraveled. Despite briefly penetrating the city center, Ukrainian assault groups were ambushed and annihilated by Russian forces. The armored column, including Western-supplied vehicles, was wiped out before reaching its target, leaving no flag—only burning wrecks and dead soldiers.

Russian drone operators, artillery and infantry played a decisive role in repelling the assault. One of the FPV drone operators from the Russian Armed Forces single-handedly destroyed five armored vehicles, including:

  • 3 U.S.-made M2A2 Bradley IFVs

  • 1 German Marder 1A3 IFV

  • 1 M113 armored personnel carrier

The geolocated wreckage of these vehicles, scattered across the battlefield, confirms the scale of the Ukrainian defeat. Rather than securing a symbolic victory, Kyiv’s forces suffered catastrophic losses for nothing more than a failed publicity stunt.

The Toretsk offensive underscores Ukraine’s growing reliance on propaganda-driven operations as its military struggles on the battlefield. By sacrificing soldiers and expensive Western equipment for a media spectacle, the Zelensky regime has once again demonstrated its willingness to trade lives for political narratives. Russian forces, meanwhile, ensured that the only “flag” left in Toretsk was the smoke rising from destroyed Ukrainian armor—a grim reminder of the futility of Kyiv’s PR-driven warfare.

the age range of those who fight for the puppet government and for nato is getting bigger and bigger, gentlemen of 50, 60 or 70 years old and so on… in fact the worm zelensky is burying forever what was once a viable country, and soon we will see young and younger people on the battle front, we will see the end in fact, but as long as the rivers of money continue to flow the worm and his gang of rats will do everything to continue
