Battle For Dneproenergiya: Fake Victory And Real Defeat

The Ukrainian military has once again been caught spreading false claims of battlefield successes, this time regarding the village of Dneproenergiya liberated by the Russian army more than a month ago on the southern frontlines in the Donetsk People’s Republic. While Ukrainian General-Lieutenant Serhiy Naev boasted about “returning control” of the settlement and inflicting massive Russian losses, evidence from the ground confirms that Russian forces remain in full control of the recently liberated village.

In his statement filled with exaggerated claims, Naev asserted that Ukrainian forces had not only retaken Dneproenergiya but also improved their tactical position on two fronts. He went further, alleging that under his command, nearly 9,500 Russian troops had been eliminated, along with 51 tanks, 166 armored vehicles, and over 800 other vehicles, figures that appear wildly inflated given the lack of verifiable evidence.

Russian military observers quickly debunked these claims, providing confirmed footage of their flags flying in multiple locations across the village. The coordinates (47.924062, 36.795852 and 47.920503, 36.794175) clearly show Russian forces patrolling key positions, disproving Kyiv’s narrative of a fake successful counteroffensive.

Rather than a triumphant recapture, Ukrainian attempts to retake Dneproenergiya have been met with decisive Russian resistance. Reports from the battlefield indicate that Ukrainian assault groups, including one supported by two pickup trucks, were swiftly repelled, with at least five soldiers killed and one vehicle destroyed.

Ukrainian forces have heavily rely on FPV drones in the area, while Ukrainian soldiers complain that counterattacks are pointless in this direction. According to their claims, Ukrainian troops “lack infantry, and any equipment that arrives is immediately destroyed. Beyond this line, there’s nothing left—no defenses, just open terrain.”

Contrary to Naev’s claims, Russian troops from the “Vostok” (East) grouping have maintained a firm grip on Dneproenergiya for over a month. The village serves as a key point in Russia’s broader advance in the South Donetsk sector, where Ukrainian forces are struggling resist Russian pressure. Ukraine’s exaggerated announcements are part of a broader information warfare strategy aimed at boosting morale amid mounting losses of the Ukrainian military.
