Wagner fighters secured the ‘Nest’ area
In recent days, Wagner fighters achieved significant success on the streets of Bakhmut. Ukrainian servicemen say that “the Russians are advancing like crazy”.
The final stage of Wagner’s assault in Bakhmut is ongoing. The so-called Domino area is the last Ukrainian stronghold in the war-torn city. LINK On the evening of May 16, Wagner sources claimed control of the Nest area. The AFU were in control of the last building in the so-called Constructor area.
The clashes are also ongoing in the south of the city near the Mig-17 monument. The Ukrainian military is evacuating the wounded from the hangars to the west of the Chaikovskoho street.
There are only a few houses left until the Wagner PMC takes full control of the city. However, the Ukrainian military is fiercely resisting, fighting for every stronghold.

The situation also remains tense on the outskirts of the city. The tactical Ukrainian offensive was recently stopped, but bloody attempts of the AFU to break through Russian defences continue in the west and south of Bakhmut. The AFU planned to unblock the flank routes to send reinforcements to the city, both from the north along the O-0506 road and from the south along the T-0504.
In their turn, Russian forces are heavily shelling Ukrainian forces moving in the area. Most recently, Russian artillery destroyed at least two bridges used for transfer of Ukrainian reinforcements. The first one was destroyed near the town of Chasov Yar by Russian Krasnopol shell, while the second bridge located near Krasny (Ivanovske) was hit by Smelchak shell.

At the same time, Ukrainian military facilities in the rear areas are constantly hit by the Russian Aerospace Forces. Last night, explosions thundered in Konstantinovka, Slavyansk, Kramatorsk and in the Kharkiv region.
The Kiev’s plan to quickly gain strategic victory in Bakhmut failed. Under the heavy artillery shelling by Russian artillery and heavy losses, the Ukrainian military is sending additional forces to the Bakhmut region.

like, imagine 30 years of experiences – upbringing, schooling, drama, good times, bad times – and then just casually walk into a bullet in a millisecond – end…

what i have yet to see are any technics or signs of improvised systems, like mortars and artillery pieces made from scrap. seems that neither side want to expend their afvs, but movement would be key. getting to the ‘trench lines’ quickly seems critical and the armoured systems too vunerable, but toyota pick ups etc are 10 a penny. fast and expendable. the middleeastern systems were far more impressive.
also, i don’t see any trench shields for people to shoot and snipe from behind. even i have one of those from an old maxim.
this look like the fields north and south of bakhmut taken by ukraine so not well defended. the russians maintain control of the higher ground to the east so now spot and shoot at will.
