The Azerbaijani army has launched a ” local anti-terrorist operation” in Nagorno-Karabakh. The armed forces of Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire regime by launching UAV, missile and artillery strikes on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Azerbaijan announced the creation of humanitarian corridors for the evacuation of the population in Nagorno-Karabakh. Presumably, a ground operation will begin very soon and the intensity of the fighting will increase dramatically. While there are strikes with precision weapons on military facilities at the moment.

At the moment, firefight between the Artsakh Defense Army and the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have already begun in Shusha. The area of Askeran was also shelled by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces. The presence of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces in the Martakert district is reported.

“Local anti-terrorist measures have been launched in the region. As part of the measures with the use of high-precision weapons on the front line and in depth, the positions of the formations of the Armenian armed forces, their long-term firing points, as well as military equipment and military facilities are being put out of action. We declare once again that the civilian population and infrastructure facilities are not being shelled, only legitimate military targets are being put out of action,” the Azerbaijani military declared.

UAV strikes on military in Karabakh were published by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces:

Destruction of Armenian Tor ADS:

The official statement of the Ministry of Defense of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic:

On September 19, at about 13:00, the Azerbaijani armed forces, conducting rocket and artillery training along the contact line, are trying to break through the depth of the defense of the Artsakh Defense Army. The troops are putting up stubborn resistance.

Azerbaijan’s position was announced in the country’s Foreign Ministry: they believe that “the only way to peace in the region is the complete withdrawal of the Armenian military from Karabakh and the dissolution of the regime in Stepanakert.”

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry accused the Armenian forces of strengthening combat positions in Karabakh, as well as of systematic shelling of the positions of the Azerbaijani army. They also reported that on September 19, the Armenian sabotage group planted a mine on the Ahmadbeyli—Fuzuli—Shusha road in the Azerbaijani-controlled part of the region. A repair car was blown up on it, civilians were killed. Baku accused Yerevan of “terrorist policy” and violation of the provisions of the trilateral agreement of November 2020.

Later, the Azerbaijani Defense Ministry said that the Armenian armed forces began shelling Baku’s positions in the Aghdam district from artillery installations. They stressed that the fire is being conducted from the territories where the Russian peacekeeping contingent is temporarily stationed.

A phone call took place between the Defense Ministers of Azerbaijan and Turkey. The Minister of Defense of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Colonel-General Zakir Hasanov, informed his colleague the Minister of National Defense of the Republic of Turkey, Yashar Guler about the local anti-terrorist activities carried out in the Karabakh region of Azerbaijan.

Mr. Yashar Guler noted that Turkey, stand together with Azerbaijan as always.

Azerbaijan stated that the Kremlin had been informed about the start of the military operation. Moscow denied that Baku had warned Russian peacekeepers “in advance” about today’s “anti-terrorist operation” in Artsakh.

“This is not true. The information was brought to the Russian contingent a few minutes before the start of hostilities,” Maria Zakharova said.

Russia calls on Armenia and Azerbaijan to cease hostilities and return to a diplomatic settlement of the conflict. The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, said that Russia is in contact on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, including with the Azerbaijani side.

People gathering in Yerevan to call on the government to protect Artsakh:

The Ministry of Defense of Armenia stated that the situation on the borders of Armenia is stable. In turn, the Armenian Defense Ministry stated that the military contingent of the state is not present in Nagorno-Karabakh.

Since Pashinyan refused to recognise Karabakh, the fighting there does not relate to the security issues for the Armenian Defense Ministry.

Residential buildings in Stepanakert were shelled:

The Armenian Foreign Ministry called on the UN Security Council and the Russian peacekeepers to take measures to stop the hostilities by Azerbaijan.

Last week, the Armenians closed the road and tried to prevent the Russian peacekeepers from passing in Nagorno-Karabakh:

Yerevan ahs recently refused to take part in the joint drills oа the CSTO. On September 11, 2023, the Armenian-American exercises started, which are expected to end on September 20.

Armenia can no longer rely on Russia as a guarantor of its security because of its military operation in Ukraine, Nikol Pashinyan said. The Prime Minister also confirmed that Yerevan will ratify the Rome Statute, but this “has nothing to do” with Moscow.

The CSTO has nothing to do with the escalation in Nagorno-Karabakh, Armenia did not recognize Karabakh and actually recognized it as part of Azerbaijan. Accordingly, the CSTO recognizes the similar status of Karabakh and the obligations of the CSTO have never been extended to it.

In the current conditions, if Armenia wants to preserve Karabakh, it needs to prepare to fight for it itself. Russia will definitely not interfere militarily and may only propose some diplomatic mediation. Iran will intervene only if Azerbaijan will attempt to take control of Armenia’s southern part as well in order to break through the corridor to Nakhichevan.

All these are natural results of 5 years of Pashinyan’s rule. Another ‘Maidan’ revolution led another country to a catastrophe with territorial losses.

The escalation began after the meeting between Putin and Erdogan, which was apparently unsuccessful. Soon after, Pashinyan began aggressive diplomatic and media campaign against Moscow in order to blame Russia for the upcoming escalation and the loss of Karabakh.

This sharp tightening of Yerevan’s rhetoric was the result of pressure from NATO countries. Apparently Pashinyan decided to kill two birds with one stone by his betrayal of the Armenian population of Karabakh. Firstly, he will fulfill the task set by his Western patrons, which is to weaken Moscow’s influence in the South Caucasus. Secondly, he is trying his best to get rid of Nagorno-Karabakh in order to provide an additional condition for the country’s further integration with NATO.

This is the same policy he used during the previous conflict with Azerbaijan three years ago. Back then, Pashinyan refused to recognize Nagorno-Karabakh, which could provide Russia and the CSTO countries with legal grounds to act in defense of the Armenian population of the region. Pashinyan also did everything necessary to destroy the management of the Armenian Armed Forces and disrupt the supply of military supplies and humanitarian aid to the area of hostilities during the armed conflict. After the end of the conflict, Pashinyan initiated a media campaign to denigrate Russian peacekeepers and servicemen deployed at a military base in Armenia.

He failed to fully realize his plans three years ago. In the fall of 2023, Pashinyan and his patrons felt that another great moment had come for their implementation. Not only is Russia busy with military operations in Ukraine, but there has also been a deterioration in Russian-Turkish bilateral relations. Today, there are less than two thousand Russian peacekeepers on the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh without heavy weapons and without a mandate to directly engage in hostilities with either side of the conflict.

The main indisputable fact proving Pashinyan’s desire to get rid of Karabakh is that over the past three years there has been a second large-scale military operation against Karabakh, and Pashinyan is still not going to recognize Karabakh. Thus, the modern political elite of Armenia denies any legitimate right of the Armenians in Karabakh to protect their lives and land.

russia will mediate something. and atleast avert giving israel and turkey what they want which is a wide regional war. as pashinyan has betrayed the ctso alliance and not recognizing artzakh hes responsible for the ethnicleansing of fellow armenians. if armenia had the right leadership artsakh would have been properly fortied in all the years it had to prepare. with strong in dept defenses any azeri attempt would have been too costly for them and a massive failure.

blame pashinyan for that, the russians wont help a western puppet loser stay in power

then the west wins. the goal is to teach the armenian people that russia will not help and nato membership is the only way to safe them. just what pashinyan is supposed to do.
and with the karabakh dispute solved both countries can join nato since the territorial dispute kept them out.
