A few minutes into the humanitarian ceasefire in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh, Azerbaijan and Armenian began accusing each other of violations.
The ceasefire was announced on October 10 morning from the Russian capital, Moscow, where Azerbaijani-Armenian talks are taking place. The ceasefire began at 12:00 PM local time.
Shushan Stepanyan, Press Secretary of the Ministry of Defense of Armenia, said Azerbaijan violated the ceasefire at 12:05. Azerbaijani forces allegedly launched a ground attack at an area known as Karakhambeyli. The city of Hadrut was also shelled.
“Units of the Artsakh Defense Army take appropriate measures to halt the enemy attack,” the Press Secretary said.
From its side, the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan said Armenian forces had attacked and shelled the Aghdara-Tartar and Fizuli-Jabrail frontlines after 12:00.
Stepanyan denied the Azerbaijani claims, saying that Armenian forces didn’t not shell any areas controlled by the other side.
The humanitarian ceasefire is without a doubt a positive first step to end the battle in Nagorno-Karabakh. However, the situation appears to be fragile. Azerbaijani forces may launch new ground attacks in the region within a few days, if not hours.

A ceasefire was not in the interest of Armenia. It was Russia who imposed the ceasefire on it yesterday evening after 10 hours of negotiations between Azerbaijan, Armenia and Russia’s foreign ministers. All signed a ceasefire agreement, with the effect from today at 12:00. The agreement had 4 main terms. 1.Establishing a humanitarian ceasefire so that the bodies can be gathered from the battlefield and the hostages can be exchanged. 2.Exact terms for ceasefire will be determined. 3.Both Azerbaijan and Armenia pledge to continue negotiations with the mediation of OECD. 4.The Sides pledge to continue the work in a negotiation format. According to the term #2 it was agreed to proceed according to the Madrid Principles – first – armenian occupational forces were to leave 5 of 7 occupied regions around NK, after that leave the 2 remaining regions and the NK to which will be returned to Azerbaijan.
But immediately after implementation Armenia resumed its rocket attacks on multiple Azeri civilian cities. A ceasefire is not in the interest of the current Armenian government. If a ceasefire is established then the bodybags will go back to Armenia and its people will revolt against Pashinian, for loosing the territories and loosing armenian lives.
The terms of the ceasefire agreement signed by Armenia and Azerbaijan in Moscow:
1. A ceasefire is declared from 12:00 pm on October 10, 2020 for humanitarian purposes for the exchange of prisoners of war and other detained persons and bodies of the dead, mediated and in accordance with the criteria of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
2. The specific parameters of the ceasefire regime will be agreed upon additionally.
3. The Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Armenia, with the mediation of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs, on the basis of the basic principles of the settlement, begin substantive negotiations with the aim of reaching a peaceful settlement as soon as possible.
4. The parties confirm the invariability of the format of the negotiation process.
There is nothing in this agreement that suggests the Armenians have agreed to “leave” their historical lands.
That was the next stage of peace settlements of Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. This is not anything knew, several times this was proposed by the OSCE group and agreed by the both the Azerbaijan and Armenian government (during the previous administrations). The negotiations concerning the return of occupied Azeri lands began with Levon Ter-Petrosyan, but the Karabakh mafia overthrew him. A year later, parliamentary elections were held in Armenia, which were won by Karen Demirchyan’s party. They were also ready to negotiate. Armenian terrorists broke into parliament and shot Demirchyan and Prime Minister Sargsyan. The negotiations were again disrupted. There are clearly forces in Armenia who do not want these negotiations to occur. Hence the violation of today’s ceasefire by Armenia.
The Madrid Principles consists of six key elements for the settlement:
1. return of the territories surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh to Azerbaijani control;
2. an interim status for Nagorno-Karabakh providing guarantees for security and self-governance;
3. a corridor linking Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh;
4. future determination of the final legal status of Nagorno-Karabakh through a legally binding expression of will;
5. the right of all internally displaced persons and refugees to return to their former places of residence; and
6. international security guarantees that would include a peacekeeping operation.
It is said, “the tree of liberty must be refreshed from time-to-time with the blood of patriots and tyrants.”
The Armenian people should never negotiate away their right to live on and die on their millennia years old historical lands, they should fight, and yes, if need be, die to defend them.
Once again it is time for the Armenia’s tree of liberty to be watered.
keep on dreaming…the last NK war caused 20.000 dead and nothing happen but Azerbajan lost…
