The United States Central Command (CENTCOM) announced on January 24 that it launched a ninth wave of strikes against the Houthis (Ansar Allah), just hours after a large-scale attack on Yemen that was jointly carried out with the United Kingdom.
The fresh strikes targeted two Houthi anti-ship missiles that were aimed into the Southern Red Sea and were prepared to launch, the command said in a statement.
It added that U.S. forces identified the missiles in Houthi-controlled areas of Yemen and determined that they presented an imminent threat to merchant vessels and the U.S. Navy ships in the region.
“This action will protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for the U.S. Navy vessels and merchant vessels,” the statement reads.
Just a day earlier, the U.S. and the UK carried out more than 18 strikes on Yemen, hitting eight targets of the Houthis in the second such joint attack since January 11. There were no reports of casualties. Still, the Houthis vowed that the attack won’t go unpunished.
The Iranian-backed Houthis have been targeting ships they say are linked to Israel in response to the war on the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
Despite recent strikes, the Houthsi remain undeterred and their capabilities appear to be intact. The last attack by the group, which took place on January 22, targeted the US military cargo ship MV Ocean Jazz. The Pentagon denied that the ship was hit.
this is a futile attempt of murica trying to keep the image of the strongest military in the world 🌎
is there anything or anyone the usa and their feeble minded puppet will not blow up in the name of their disney world order.
so, 18 strikes en 8 hits eh? that’s less than 50%, not exactly awe-inspiring for the so-called most powerfull military in the world. especially when considering they are striking against relatively unsophisticated targets
pathetic immoral amerikan terrified of superior russian can only attack civilized peoples that lack nukes
