The wars have taught us that there is safety in numbers and one soldier does not make a battle. One Russian tank crew proved the opposite. Russian drone filmed a legendary battle that took place back in June on the Zaporozhie frontlines at the very beginning of the Ukrainian frontlines.
During one of the battles near Novodarovka in the Zaporozhye region, a Russian tank alone met the advancing column of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which included two tanks and six MRAP M1224 MaxxPro armored vehicles.
The advance of the column of armored vehicles towards the Russian positions was spotted by Russian reconnaissance drones. Despite the obvious quantitative advantage of the enemy the crew of the Russian T-72B tank boldly met the Ukrainian armored column. One Russian tank, called Alyosha, supported by UAVs, ATGM and RPG fire, withstood the battle with eight enemy tanks and armored personnel carriers and won it.
The Russian tank maneuvered and prevented the enemy column from advancing forward. As a result, Ukrainian armored vehicles stopped under fire and ended up in a minefield. After the Ukrainian column stuck, Russian Alyosha came back with support. After the battle, the tank returned to its position with some minor shrapnel damage.
The acting head of the DPR Denis Pushilin said that the crew will be awarded in the Donetsk People’s Republic. On August 1, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu announced that the tank crew would be presented with Russian state awards.
Russian heroes revealed some details of the battle in their interviews.
The commander of a tank crew with the call sign “Monolith” said: “It so happened that I was behind the levers at the moment, because the regular mechanic-driver of this crew was injured and stayed in a hospital. In order not to waste time, I jumped on the levers myself and let’s go. Initially, the task was to mop up the village of Novodarovka. However, the enemy column was already coming up, and a completely different mess started.”
According to the tanker, even before the approach of the column, the gunner of their crew managed to destroy another armored vehicle of the AFU. Later, he destroyed at least two more enemy tanks. He could not say how many units of enemy equipment were hit by the tank crew during the battle because he was busy watching the road.
“The artillery worked very well,” the tankman added, “The enemy made tactical mistakes – they crowded together, grouped together with vehicles and at that moment the artillery worked, and we added more damage.”
“As our President said: if a fight is inevitable, you have to hit first. So we did. I would like to send greetings to the manufacturers of Leopard tanks. Soon the Abrams will arrive here, and we will also get acquainted with them. They will be disappointed,” the fighters say.
“This is our routine working day. All our combat missions are like this. This is only one video, many fights are not shown. And we work constantly, this is our job.”
The video from Novodarovka once again confirms that the defense of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is well fortified and the key to the Russia’s victories is braveness and high morale of its servicemen.
soon the abrams will arrive here, and we will also get acquainted with them. they will be disappointed,” the fighters say.👏👏👏👏
