All-out war breaks out in Al-Hasakah as Government, Kurdish forces vie for control

AlMasdarNews reports: Al-Hasakah, Syria (5:45 A.M.) – The Kurdish police (Asayish) and government-backed “National Defense Forces” (NDF) are engaged in an all-out battle for control of Hasakah City after a small skirmish on Wednesday erupted into a fierce engagement around the provincial capital.

According to the latest ground reports, the Asayish, backed by the People’s Protection Units (YPG), are attempting to advance at the Guweiran District in east Hasakah; meanwhile, the National Defense Forces vie for control of the western neighborhoods of the Al-Nashwa District.

Both parties claim they are advancing against one another; however, very little footage has been released to corroborate these reports.

The Asayish recently claimed that their forces captured the Al-Beiruti Bridge at the Askari-Guweiran axis, but this report was denied by government activists.

The Syrian Air Force did not launch any airstrikes over Al-Hasakah during the twilight hours on Thursday, despite contradictory claims made by PYD and YPG social media activists.
