In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian troops are restoring their positions on the northern flank, expanding their control zone, and preparing for further advances. Fighting continues on the approaches to Vozdvizhevka, Verkhnia Tersa, Vovshebne, and Huliaipilske beyond the Haichur River. In the Dobropillia salient, Russian troops are actively attacking Ukrainian positions in Pavlivka, Novyi Donbas, and Bilytske. They have surrounded the mine west of Rodynske. In the Pokrovsk area, Russian troops have expanded their control over Novopidhorodne and Udachne, forcing Ukrainian troops into the western part of Hryshyne. In the Sumy area, assault groups from the “North” military grouping advanced 200 meters and struck concentrations of personnel and equipment around Konotop and Shostka. In the Kharkiv area, Russian troops advanced 600 meters in the Vovchansk sector and 200 meters in the Velykyi Burluk sector. According to The Guardian, European officials are concerned that United States authorities may increase pressure on Ukraine to abandon its claims to Donbas.
Zaporizhzhia Direction
Intense clashes continue in the Zaporizhzhia area. Ukrainian units have not abandoned their attempts to infiltrate the Dnipropetrovsk region. Occasionally, archival footage of repelled attacks and the destruction of Ukrainian transport appears online and is often misinterpreted as recent. At the same time, although Ukrainian infiltration groups are still occasionally encountered, their activity is gradually decreasing.
Russian units are engaged in restoring positions on the northern flank. Fighters are gradually expanding their control zone and creating conditions for further advancement. Meanwhile, the clearing of individual settlements of reconnaissance groups and survivors of previous Ukrainian assault units continues. Support groups attempting to assist Ukrainian units are promptly engaged on the approaches.
Beyond the Haichur River, on the western flank, Russian units continue their offensive. After repelling attacks, they are operating on a fairly broad sector of the front. Local successes have been recorded near Boikove and Rozhdestvenske. In this sector, the destruction of Ukrainian unit logistics is underway. Clashes are ongoing on the approaches to Vozdvizhevka and Verkhnia Tersa. The settlements are being bypassed from the north and west to trap Ukrainian units in the villages. To the south, clashes are shifting towards Vovshebne and Huliaipilske.
Steady advancement in the eastern part of the Zaporizhzhia region, under Ukrainian control, will allow for the outflanking of Orikhiv from the north and the subsequent establishment of control over the settlement. Orikhiv poses a significant challenge to advancing Russian troops, and its capture would ease the situation in western Zaporizhzhia, where Ukrainian forces are advancing with numerical superiority.
Dobropillia Salient
Clashes continue on the approaches to Pavlivka on the Dobropillia salient. Russian units are actively attacking Ukrainian troop positions with mortars and drones, and the Ukrainian side is responding with fire in an attempt to hit Russian positions.
In the Novyi Donbas area, fighting continues for both the settlement and its outskirts. The village remains in a “grey zone” for now, with neither side having stable control. A similar situation is developing in Bilytske, which also remains in a “gray zone.” The town itself has been almost completely destroyed, and Ukrainian units are finding it increasingly difficult to consolidate. They are gradually withdrawing westward. Russian artillery and aviation are targeting the next line of Ukrainian defenses: Chernihivka, Svitle, and Shevchenko.
In Rodynske, Ukrainian units remain in multi-story buildings in the western part of the town, maintaining a “layered” configuration of positions. The mine west of the town remains under Ukrainian control. Meanwhile, Russian units have encircled this territory from the north and south, nearly cutting off Ukrainian troops’ logistics.
Pokrovsk Direction
Russian units in Novopidhorodne have expanded their control zone to the eastern outskirts of the village and are advancing toward the center. The village is strategically important because it is located along the highway to Dnipropetrovsk. It serves as a logistical hub and a defensive fortification for Ukrainian units. Ukrainian forces are attempting to infiltrate from the eastern outskirts of Molodetske to Udachne via the railway through the tree lines.
In Udachne, Russian units have expanded their control zone north and west of the village. In Hryshyne, Russian troops have forced Ukrainian troops into the western part of the village. However, Ukrainian troops are still counterattacking from Myrne and along the highway from Serhiivka. In the western part of Hryshyne, Ukrainian unit shelters are being destroyed by drones.
In Myrne, Russian units are using aerial bombs to attack Ukrainian troop positions, which serve as staging points for personnel and attacks on Hryshyne. North of Hryshyne, positional battles and the work of artillery and drone crews continue on Ukrainian unit positions in Novooleksandrivka.
Sumy Direction
In the Sumy region, the “North” grouping’s assault groups continue to fight fiercely, advancing deeper into the area. Russian troops have struck Ukrainian unit personnel and equipment concentrations in the Konotop, Svarivka, Kiyanytsia, Mala Rybytsia, and Shostka areas, as well as in the Fotovizh, Khotyn, and Nova Sich villages.
In the Shostka district, Russian units are continuing to clear border forested areas. Assault groups advanced up to 150 meters on four fronts. In the Sumy district, the “North” grouping’s assault groups advanced on fourteen sections, advancing up to 200 meters over the day.
In the Krasnopillia district, intense fighting continues in the Novodmytrivka area. Assault groups of the “North” grouping advanced up to 400 meters on four fronts.
Kharkiv Direction
In the Kharkiv region, the “North” grouping’s assault groups continue to engage in fierce combat, pushing Ukrainian units back from the state border. Russian troops struck concentrations of personnel and equipment in Ternova, Pokaliane, Rubizhne, Kolodezne, Prykolotne, Velykyi Burluk, Tsyrkuny, and Buzove.
In the Vovchansk area, assault groups advanced up to 600 meters along eleven fronts. Intense firefights are ongoing in Vovchanski Khutory and surrounding areas, including forested regions east of Verkhnya Pysarivka and near the border on the Zybine–Volokhivka–Okhrimivka line.
In the Velykyi Burluk area, Russian assault groups advanced up to 200 meters on three fronts.
Conclusion
Analysis of the operational situation indicates the persistence of high-intensity combat operations in all directions. In the Zaporizhzhia area, Russian troops are restoring their positions and expanding their control zone. They are gradually creating conditions to outflank Orikhiv from the north, which could ease the situation on the western flank. There, Ukrainian troops are maintaining offensive activity. In the Dobropillia salient and the Pokrovsk area, Russian troops are systematically expanding their control over settlements and disrupting Ukrainian unit logistics by operating in small groups and using artillery and aviation. In the Sumy area, the “North” group continues to advance systematically, striking concentrations of personnel and equipment, including Ukrainian air defense and artillery units. In the Kharkiv area, Russian assault groups are advancing, reaching up to 600 meters in the Vovchansk sector and up to 200 meters in the Velykyi Burluk sector.
In the context of international politics, a significant event was a report by The Guardian. European officials have expressed concern that the U.S. government may increase pressure on Ukraine before the midterm congressional elections in the fall, forcing it to abandon its claims to the Donbas region. According to the report, citing two European officials, there is a growing concern that, in order to achieve a geopolitical victory before the midterm elections, U.S. President Donald Trump may increase pressure on Kyiv. Earlier, the Financial Times reported that the U.S. believes Kyiv should relinquish control of Donbas to resolve the conflict. However, Ukraine only agrees to discuss territorial issues if it receives security guarantees from Washington. This statement demonstrates the growing pressure on the Ukrainian leadership from a key ally. Against the backdrop of the successful offensive of Russian troops in multiple directions, this pressure may force Kyiv to reconsider its position on territorial issues.
