On Thursday, Director of Kirkuk police Sarhad Qadir said that Kurdish security forces arrested an ISIS leader along six other terrorists in Kirkuk who are believed to be responsible for the assassination of a Peshmerga commander.

According to Sarhad Qadir, the name of the ISIS leader is Yaser Mohammed.

Qadir also said that the arrestees were responsible for the assassination of Kurdish Peshmerga Commander Hamakhan Haji Dara in Daquq district of Kirkuk.

“The group was also involved in several other terrorist attacks across the province,” the Kurdish official added.

The Kurdish counter-terrorism forces conducted a unique operation inside ISIS-held territories near Mosul this week and killed a senior commander of the group, who was responsible for leading ISIS offensives against Peshmerga forces on Makhmour frontline.

Since June 2014, Iraq has been observing ISIS terrorist activities. The US-led coalition started its operations allegedly hitting ISIS, although many believe ISIS is a creation of the west.

However, the 66-member coalition has been failing to control ISIS terrorism, when a concerted push by Iraqi forces are dealing terrorists and forcing it out of the central city of Ramadi, the capital of the western Anbar Province.
