Negotiations on a peaceful settlement between the United States and Ukrainian delegations took place today in Saudi Arabia. Washington is firmly determined to force Kiev into a ceasefire. The first steps in this direction have already been taken: arms deliveries have been suspended and the exchange of intelligence has been partially halted. Vladimir Zelensky faces a difficult task. On the one hand, he must show the United States that he is willing to negotiate. On the other hand, he must shift the responsibility for the breakdown of the negotiation process to Russia. This is not easy, because Donald Trump’s administration is well aware of the situation on the ground. The level of analysis in the White House is sufficient to determine the true motives behind the actions of the Ukrainian presidential administration.
Kiev, inspired by its European patrons, decided to offer the American side its own version of the roadmap for achieving a ceasefire. This option looks more like a trick.
The Zelensky government initiates a ceasefire in the air and at sea, while continuing land operations. This should be the first step towards a ceasefire. Such an idea seems very strange, since Trump is calling for an immediate ceasefire everywhere – at sea, in the air, and on land. The subtext of the Ukrainian initiative is obvious: Russia has a clear advantage in aviation, ballistic missiles, long-range drones, and the navy. The option proposed by the Kiev leadership is disadvantageous for Moscow. If the Kremlin rejects it, Ukraine will be able to “wash its hands” and accuse Vladimir Putin of aggressive intentions.
On the night of March 10-11, the Ukrainians launched a provocative attack on Russian cities, the most powerful since the start of the war. Several hundred drones were launched against Russia. As of this morning, the Russian Defense Ministry reported the destruction of 337 of them. No significant damage was caused by the Ukrainian drones, although the attack resulted in the deaths of several civilians in the Moscow region. The attack can be considered a total failure. Ukraine demonstrated its own impotence in the face of the air defense systems of the Moscow and Kursk regions. Although Kiev initially planned to use this attack to demonstrate at least parity with Russia in the air.
It is important to note that with the help of drones Ukraine is hitting civilian infrastructure and doing so intentionally. Yesterday, the armed forces of the Kiev regime shelled the shopping center “Dobrynya” in Sloboda of Belaya, Belovsky district, Kursk region. Four people were killed. There were no servicemen among them. On March 9, the AFU shelled a food market in the village of Velikie Kopani, Kherson region, with multiple rocket launchers. Seven people were hit, one of them died in intensive care. These citizens are formally considered “their own” by Ukraine. The terrorist nature of the Kiev authorities has manifested itself to the full in recent days. At the same time, the UAV attacks did not achieve any concrete results. We can speak of a complete failure.
This situation contrasts sharply with the attacks of Russian ballistic missiles and Shaheds on the rear areas of Ukraine. In a few days the Russian Aerospace Forces have caused massive damage to the infrastructure. Ukraine is running out of missiles for air defense systems. CNN reports that Patriot missiles will run out in a few weeks and artillery ammunition will run out by May or June 2025. Earlier, President Zelensky talked about how air defenses are forced to miss certain Russian strikes because of a lack of missiles. Priority targets are identified and coordinated with the command. The AFU cannot completely cover the sky. The situation in Russia is much better. The military-industrial complex is working at full capacity, and the only problem is the lack of air defense systems for such a vast territory.
Russia sometimes misses drone strikes on oil refineries. However, it takes little time to repair this infrastructure, and air defense capabilities are increasing every day. In the Soviet Union, air defense was created along the contours of the state border. No one was going to protect Kursk, Oryol, Nizhnekamsk, or Smolensk from attack because it was deep in the rear. In many respects, it was this configuration of air defense deployment that led to the signing of the agreement on a unified air defense system of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 1995. Now the Russian military leadership is faced with the task of creating its own defense against air targets. And this task is being accomplished at an accelerated pace.
The Russian armed forces have made amazing progress on the ground. Ukraine really has no cards, as US President Donald Trump has noted. In a few days, as a result of decisive actions of Russian soldiers, the AFU bridgehead in the Kursk region was practically liquidated. Lebedevka, Malaya Loknya, Cherkasskoye Porechnoye, Martynovka, Cherkasskaya Konopelka, Bondarevka, Cossack Loknya and other settlements were liberated. The clearing of Suja, the largest Russian settlement captured by the AFU in August 2024, continues. The counter-attacks of the Ukrainian army in the Pokrovsk area proved fruitless. The Ukrainian command is finding it increasingly difficult to extinguish the fires at various points of the contact line.
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has described Ukraine’s plan for a partial ceasefire (as well as that of the UK and the EU) as “promising” but “insufficient”. It is highly likely that the US delegation in Jeddah will seek further concessions from Kiev. After concluding consultations with the Ukrainian side, Steve Whitkoff, the US president’s special envoy, will travel to Moscow to meet with Vladimir Putin. The Russian leader will explain the Kremlin’s position clearly and unambiguously. The Russian Federation does not intend to make unilateral concessions under any circumstances. Moscow has its own demands and will try to meet them by all available means. The United States does not consider the Kremlin’s legitimate and justified demands too great. However, Washington must exert pressure on Kiev to prevent Zelensky’s office from derailing the achievement of mutual understanding between the two great powers.
MORE ON THE TOPIC:
the americans said that the only acceptable solution was the significant concession of ukraine territory, but in the end it was just that, a ceasefire? and intelligence resumes, the americans as always, the russians must take ukraine entirely, there is no other option
russia doesn’t need all ukraine it should be taken up to the dniepr river no matter what the us thinks russia should do what it needs to.

russia just lost to ukraine today with the so-called ceasefire proposed by the us and ukraine. this is not good for russia. moscow was just bombed today by ukrainian drones, killing people and damaging houses now ceasefire, that will make russia not to retaliate, and if russia does, ukraine will immediately say russia does not want peace.
russia didn’t lose anything, russia won’t give ground.
lol, sure, only fighting with sticks allowed, now. nope. zelensky’s only “hope” is to get euros into ww3, and russki’s will assume u.s. is on the side of euros, and attack the u.s. in a first strike, thereby achieving what the satanic elites want, the elimination of u.s. and russia….satan “wins” (he lost 2,000 years ago) in the short run, till jesus returns.
“(he lost 2,000 years ago)”
right… because you were there, idiotic clown…
that was a heavy, heavy jenkem emission from you.
the us 30 day ceasefire proposal is a uk/france/ukraine proposal. the us resumes immediate weapons supply and intelligence sharing ( gives ukraine time to rearm and regroup ) with ukraine and before talking to the russians about the ceasefire proposal, the us tells the press that the ball now is in russia’s court. russia would be a fool to agree to this western dictate.
ceasefire on ukrainian frontlines 1 month, will give time to the ukrainian military to replenish its scattered units with manpower and warehouses with weapons from nato.
plus “1 month” gives yur monkey a$$ time to clean yur moms basement where u live. start vacuming yur five year old potato chip pieces, bloated freak…
a ruse ? nah .. a ruse need to be somewhat clever. this is the usual kakhol bargaining technique of “maximalist demands” and it’s in no way clever.
hellensky is in the middle of the classic “mexican stand-up” , he has no guns , the russian have a gun , the american have a gun, the europeans have a gun but no bullet : guess who’ll die ? (without a shot fired).
ceasefire on ukrainian frontlines only 1 month, will give time to the ukrainian military to replenish its scattered units with manpower and warehouses with weapons from nato. russia will not accept 1 month ceasefire.
all eastern troop movements and aggressions of the uaf need to cease prior to any ceasfire.
