Houthis Repel Saudi-led Coalition Attack In Southern Jizan (18+ Video)

The Houthis successfully repelled a ground attack by the Saudi-led coalition and its proxies on their positions near the Qais mount in the southern Saudi province of Jizan on May 8.

A short video released by the Yemeni rebel group’s media wing shows Houthi fighters targeting coalition troops with rocket-propelled grenades and heavy machine guns. The bodies of several Saudi-backed Yemeni fighters, who were killed in the failed attack, can be also seen in the video.

“This is our trophies, and this is their bodies,” a field commander of the Houthis says in the video’s end while pointing at a bale of ammunition, which had been left behind by coalition forces.

The Houthis launched a new limited military operation in Jizan earlier this week. In the course of the operation, several positions east of the al-Dud mount in the southern part of the province were captured.

So far, the Saudi-led coalition has failed to secure the southern Saudi provinces of Jizan, Najran and Asir, where the Houthis maintain a strong military presence.
