Forces of the Libyan National Army (LNA) led by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar have been developing their offensive on the Libyan capital of Tripoli.

Over the past few days, the LNA has repelled several counter-attacks from forces loyal to the Government of National Accord (GNA) in the area of Tripoli International Airport.

At the same time, according to pro-LNA sources. the LNA has advanced in the area of Wadi al-Rabieh capturing the  village of Zatarna. Several pro-GNA fighters have been reportedly killed in the area.

Despite this achievement, the LNA push towards Tripoli has de-facto stalled. The LNA leadership is currently deploying additional equipment and artillery units to strengthen its assault force. In the event of success, fresh reinforcements should allow the LNA to shorten frontline in some areas and to continue pushing towards the southern gate of Tripoli.

Currently, the LNA chances to fully isolate the GNA stronghold in the nearest future are low.

The battle may have stalled for now, Haftar still controls most of the country and seems to be the one with actual foreign military support. Even the heavily battered and defeated German army of april 1945 still managed the stall the massive Red Army for a couple of days when it began its assault for Berlin. The GNA is obviously fighting for its very survival now. An animal that is both wounded and trapped is at its most dangerous. Since they are not beating back Haftar I’d still say that eventually Haftar will win through sheer attrition.
