Libyan National Army Advances West Of Tripoli Amid Fierce Clashes With GNA Forces

The Libyan National Army (LNA) advanced west of the country’s capital, Tripoli, on April 11 and reached the outskirt of the town of al-Swani, where its units are currently engaging in fierce clashes with forces loyal to the Libyan Government of National Accord (GNA).

“Fierce battles … On the axis of al-Swani, near the area of Janzur, which is located 12km west of the capital, Tripoli … Amid wide advance by the LNA and major collapse in the ranks of pro-GNA militias,” a Libyan military source told the al-Arabiya TV.

According to a press release by the LNA’s media office, army units destroyed several military vehicles and killed dozens of pro-GNA fighters while advancing towards al-Swani.

Ahead of the new advance, the Libyan Air Force (LAF) [loyal to the LNA] carried out a series of airstrikes on GNA forces near the town of Ain Zara, south of Tripoli, and inside the Mitiga International Airport, which is located in the eastern suburbs of the capital.

The new attack on al-Swani will likely disturb GNA forces, which pushed most of their units to the frontlines south of Tripoli. According to Sputnik, the LNA is now deploying additional reinforcements around the Libyan capital. This could further complicate the situation for the GNA.

Al Swani was the scene of a GNA counter attack two days ago. If the LNA is now about to take that town it obviously means that counter attack failed. The plot therefore thickens.

The LNA has reversed all the gains of the GNA’s Operation Volcano Rage, which saw advances initially. But sooner rather than later, the GNA will collapse.

Gaddafi betrayed himself. He was a brutal dictator, with a murderous regime that ruled for 42 long, miserable years.Good riddance to him, may he rot in hell.

If the Libyans win, the US will forbid any country to buy Libyan oil.
But at least Libyan children will be safe from American pedophiles.
