PODGORICA – The OSCE Mission in Montenegro today condemned the violence that happened last night in Podgorica, where property was destroyed, including the stoning of the Albanian embassy and injured several police officers, journalists and citizens.

The OSCE Mission underlines the statement that violence with political aims has no place in modern democratic societies, and added that it expected that the relevant authorities fully investigate all incidents that have occurred or could occur, and that those responsible be prosecuted in accordance with the law.

“The mission believes that the right to public assembly, and the right to public protest are legitimate, in all democratic societies. Likewise, the Mission reiterates that such actions must be conducted peacefully and in full accordance with the rule of law,” reads the statement.

“Once again we urge all political parties to constructively, and positively engage in the institution of Parliament, in the interests of citizens and to respect all political and other differences,” said the ambassador at the Mission Janina Hrebickova .
