On September 26, ISIS cells in Sinai Peninsula destroyed an M60A3 main battle tank of the Egyptian military in the village of Shbanah, south of the city of al-Arish, with an anti-tank rocket propelled grenade, according to the terrorist group news agency Amaq.

A day earlier, an IED, which had been planted by ISIS elements, struck an Egyptian military bulldozer in the village of al-Ataiyqah in the southern part of the region of Sheikh Zuweid in Sinai. Amaq said that the bulldozer was damaged as a result of the IED explosion.
The Egyptian military and security forces launched a large scale security operation, codenamed “Sinai 2018,” more than seven months ago to neutralize the remaining ISIS cells in the Sinai Peninsula. Despite that government forces killed and arrested hundreds of terrorist during the operation, the terrorist group still appears to be capable of carrying out attacks in the peninsula.
The upcoming few days will likely witness security operations of the Egyptian military and security forces against ISIS elements and sympathizers in al-Arish and Sheikh Zuweid in response to these new attacks.
