This map provides a general look at the military situation in Syria on August 27, 2018:
- The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies are still struggling to put an end to ISIS resence in the al-Saf area in southeastern Syria;
- The situation remains tense at the contact line between the SAA and militant groups in the Idlib de-escalation zone;
- The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) continues hit and run attacks on Turkey-led forces in the Afrin region in northern Syria;
- The US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) are not hurrying up to launch a military operation against ISIS on in the Euphrates Valley despute multiple claims to do this soon.
