On August 27, clashes between the Syrian Army and ISIS cells continued in the area of al-Safa at the administrative border between Rif Dimashq and al-Suwayda provinces in southern Syria.
According to pro-government sources, an army unit destroyed at least one ISIS vehicle equipped with a machine gun near the settlement of Khirbet al-Hawi in the area of al-Safa. Firefights between government troops and ISIS members were also reproted near Abu Ghanem Hill in the same area.
At the same reports are appearing that the Syrian military is not going to limit its oepration against ISIS cells by al-Safa. When ISIS cells are defeated in the area, government forces may launch an operation to clear the remaining areas in the Homs-Deir Ezzor desert, which are still controlled by ISIS cells.
