On July 20, thousands of Palestinians protested near the separation fence between Israel and the Gaza Strip to demand the recognition of their “right of return,” according to the Lebanese al-Mayadeen TV.
Palestinian activists said that the Israeli military attempted to break up the protestors with tear gas and live bullets, which led to the death of four protestors and the wounding of dozens others.
During the clashes between the protestors and the Israeli military, unknown gunmen opened fire at a group of Israeli soldiers. According to the Jerusalem Post, at least one Israel soldier was injured as a result of the attack.
In response to the incident, the Israel military announced that its warplanes and tanks targeted eight military posts of the Hamas Movement throughout the Gaza Strip. Minutes later, the military wing of Hamas, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, acknowledged that three of its fighters were killed in the Israeli strikes.

The Gaza Strip will likely witness a military escalation in the upcoming hours as the Israeli government approved a plan to target more positions of the Hamas Movement. Furthermore, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades vowed to avenge its three fighters.
