On February 9, Egyptian Army spokesman Colonel Tamer Rifai announced in an official statement that the Egyptian Air Force (EAF) had discovered and destroyed several explosives and ammo depots of the ISIS cells in the central and northern parts of the Sinai Peninsula.
According to the Col. Rifai, the Egyptian Army commandos also conducted a series of special operations against ISIS cells in the Sinai Peninsula. Security forces carried out several security operations inside the city of Arish in the northern part of Sinai.
For the second day in a row, the ISIS-linked news agency Amaq didn’t release any reports regarding the ongoing battles in the Sinai Peninsula. This indicates that ISIS cells there are under a great pressure.
However, some sources believe that ISIS cells might have decide to hide instead of facing the Egyptian Army in the peninsula. These cells could surface again once the Egyptian Army ends its large military operation there, a technique that had been used by ISIS cells in Libya.
The Egyptian Army announced the start of a large military operation against “terrorist and criminal elements and organizations” in the Sinai peninsula and other parts of the country on February 9.
Units of the Egyptian Army and security forces that are taking part in the ongoing operation against ISIS:
Looks good.
On the image showing the riot-police, what type of unit are those a bit ridiculous looking red kind-of-armor wearing guys?
