On January 7, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and its allies liberated the key village of Sinjar in southern Idlib from Hayat Tahrir al-Sham (formerly Jabhat al-Nusra, the Syrian branch of al-Qaeda). On January 8, the Syrian Defense Ministry released a video confirming the libeartion of Sinjar. Meanwhile, the SAA further advanced against militants and liberation more villages in southern Idlib.
