The Kurdish-dominated Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), supported by the US-led coalition, have resumed their operations against ISIS in eastern Syria.
The reported goal of the operation is to establish control over the entire Syrian-Iraqi border on the eastern bank of the Euphrates.
According to pro-Kurdish sources, the SDF has already captured the villages of Abu Hamam, al-Hayan and Swaidan located 25km northeast of Deir Ezzor. 17 ISIS members were allegedly killed during the SDF advance.
Earlier this week rumors appeared that the SDF had reached a ceasefire deal with ISIS in the area. The ongoing advance confirms the SDF statement denying the existing of such a deal with ISIS.
Kurd can play fighting with their aligned ally ISIS al they want. The problem was who would believe them.
Yes, IF this was not ‘play fighting’ the US would have destroyed the long column of ISIS in the US controlled Eastern Euphrates zone near the border with Iraq last week.
To allow the long ISIS column to travel without hindrance last week and attack the same people this week makes NO sense.
Perhaps the new uniforms and humvees have all arrived now for the ISIS terrorists to be issued with :)
SDF will soon take all of the villages at the east bank of the River. At the same time SAA has taken Asharan, on the west side, at the cost of some 250 kia from Tiger forces.

In the mean time the SAA has almost stopped its operations against ISIS and has moved most of its troops to the Idlib front.

The SDF are not fighting ISIS. They are trying to prevent the Iraqi Army from mopping up one of the last ISIS pockets/border crossings between Iraq and Syria. It’s where the ‘moderate opposition’ get supplied by their western/eastern allies.
