On Saturday night, the Turkish Army deployed 18 MRAPs near the Bab al-Hawa crossing on the border with Idlib governorate. According to Anadolu, the goal is to secure the Syrian-Turkish border only.

Syrian opposition activists claimed that the new deployment is a part of the Turkish Army preparations for a military operation in the northern Idlib countryside.
Meanwhile, local sources from Idlib governorate reported that Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) redeployed large forces to the border with Turkey as well as to the Abu al-Duhur airbase in the southwestern Aleppo countryside.
HTS is likely preparing for possible military operations of the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and the Turkish Army against it in Idlib governorate. Many Syrian opposition activists believe that a joint operation against HTS is a part of the de-escalation agreement in Idlib governorate.
In a separated development, clashes broke out on Sunday between joint forces of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement the Free Syrian Army (FSA) groups and the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) around Darat Izza town in the northwestern Aleppo countryside.
Syrian opposition sources claimed that the FSA and the Ahrar al-Sham Movement repelled an attack of the SDF on Darat Izza. Meanwhile, the SDF claimed that the Ahrar al-Sham Movement and the FSA shelled its positions Jalmah village west of Afrin city.
The SDF claimed that it hit a position of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement around Darat Izza with an ATGM. The SDF said that 5 fighters of the Ahrar al-Sham Movement were killed in the attack.
The SDF is likely trying to take advantage of the current de-escalation agreement to capture more areas west of Afrin city in order to secure it.
The SDF captured many Arabian areas east of Afrin city in a similar way before the beginning of the Turkish operation in the northern and northeastern Aleppo countryside in 2016.
So Turkey can go in operation against JFS which it supported during Idlib battle more than 2 years ago . Remember the Army of Conquest which JFS or Al Nusra – (however you want to call it) played key role . What a irony . Hey Erdogan what happened – with ” This day is close” ( saying that Assad will soon leave) or “your days are numbered “
hope the syrian coalition be more wary of the turks’ real intention judging from the turks’ past actions … can the turks be ever trusted?
as the claims stated above, the sdf seemed to have an ‘easier’ route battling the terrorists …
The Kalibrs are going to come in low out of the rising sun….
Idlib was taken by the Chechen led Uyghur highly represented Turkish Islamic Party, the Chinese mostly went home when their domestic agenda failed, the Chechens went over to al-Nurash not long after the North Western Syrian Offensive mid 2015 because Erdogan was getting too heavily involved.
July 15 2016 failed Coup meant Erdogan no longer had an alliance with the FSA or the USA and Germany, Germany took back their support for Turkey when Erdogan reacted to the Kurdish HPD getting over the 10% threshold, Erdogan could have pretended the Gulenist movement didn’t exist and carried on with EU ascension but in a remarkable short period he held control of the State and cut the HDP and Gulenists to ribbons, Syria is not Cyprus, that’s a common mistake, Syria had got virtually all neighbours on board, except for the GCC who will back Turkey staying in Syria, but Allah is going against Salman, so even that will dissipate.
Why aren´t the Turkish units massing on the Hasakah border?
” a joint operation against HTS is a part of the de-escalation agreement in Idlib governorate.”
I would love to see the HTS wiped out in Idlib.
But part of the “de-escalation”. Hmmm :)
They have been prepping this area around Idlib for the agreement and possibly expelling HTS might be important for it’s success.
HTS is the main player no. it has the money and man power. almost every murderer in Syria is HTS now or isis or sdf. the other groups like fsa are going to be wiped out .thats why Turkey is coming to the resque. FSA is their favourite.
