In the Zaporozhye direction, Russian assault units continued to advance west of Zorevka and drove a wedge into the defences toward Barvinovka. In the Sumy direction, Russian units of the “North” grouping captured Ulanovo and are fighting near Tolstodubovo and Stepok. In the Kharkiv direction, Russian units are delivering precision strikes against concentrations of Ukrainian forces in the northeast of the region; an attempt to break out of the encirclement using armor near Nefyodovka was repelled, and there is progress near Alisovka, Kreidyanka and Kolodeznoye. In the Dobropolye direction, the “Center” grouping took Vesyoloye Pole, creating the preconditions for a move toward Mirovoye and pressure on the garrison in Dobropolye. In the Krasny Liman direction, Russian units are holding Zarechnoye; fighting continues in the forest tracts near Yampol and on the southern outskirts of Krasny Liman. Meanwhile, the IMF estimates a possible Ukrainian financing gap of up to 54 billion dollars through 2029.
Zaporozhye direction
In the northern sector Russian assault units continued to advance west of Zorevka. They also continued to drive a wedge into the defences, developing the advance toward Barvinovka. Artillery crews and drone operators destroyed three vehicles, a ground robotic system, nine drone control points, 46 NSU antennas and two Starlink satellite communication stations.
West of Lesnoye Russian units continue to systematically uncover and capture fortified Ukrainian positions, expanding the zone of control and complicating the approach of reserves. They have taken successive strongpoints, maintaining pressure on Ukrainian defences.
West of Rovnoye and Kopani Russian units continue to develop the achieved success, capturing new strong points and systematically disrupting the command-and-control system of Ukrainian units. Offensive actions are developing north of Yegorovka and west of Chervona Krynytsia, where assault units are advancing and capturing successive strongpoints. The results achieved make it possible to maintain pressure on the defences and develop the offensive on adjacent sectors.
Sumy direction
Assault units of the “North” grouping continue a confident advance in the Sumy region. The Ukrainian side took no active actions and was strengthening defensive positions on the approaches to Sumy.
Russian aviation, artillery and drone crews struck concentrations of personnel and equipment of Ukrainian units in the areas of Sumy, Khoten, Kiyanitsa, Malaya Rybitsa, Velikaya Rybitsa and Tolstodubovo.
In the Sumy district, assault groups of Russian units are conducting small-arms fighting near Kiyanitsa and Khoten. In Shostka district Russian units captured Ulanovo and continue to advance near Tolstodubovo. In Krasnopolye district heavy fighting is under way near Stepok.
Kharkiv direction
The fiercest fighting continues to unfold in the northeast of Kharkiv region. Russian units are delivering precision strikes against large concentrations of Ukrainian forces that have not abandoned attempts to break out of the encirclement.
In the Liptsy direction TOS-1A “Solntsepyok” crews actively worked against Ukrainian positions. There is progress near Alisovka and Vysokaya Yaruga. In the Volchansk direction the Ukrainian side, using armour with tank support, made another attempt to break the encirclement ring from the inside near Nefyodovka. As a result of comprehensive fire strikes the attempt was thwarted and the Ukrainian forces were destroyed. In the Veliky Burluk direction Russian troops advanced near Kreidyanka and Kolodeznoye. Overall progress reached up to 500 metres.
Dobropolye direction
The “Center” grouping took the Vesyoloye Pole. The defence here was held by units of the 4th Operational Brigade of the 2nd National Guard Corps “Khartia”. According to the Ministry of Defence, some of the Ukrainian servicemen fled despite numerical superiority. The village is small — previously it had a little more than fifty residents — but its location is important. From the western outskirts, which stand on elevated ground, it is less than a kilometre to Pervomayskoye, which adjoins Belozerskoye. This is one of the westernmost settlements of the DPR together with Dobropolye. From Belozerskoye to the border with Dnipropetrovsk region is about ten kilometres.
The capture of Vesyoloye Pole means the overcoming of a defensive line of ditches and wire obstacles. Preconditions are emerging for a move toward Mirovoye and a possible assault on Belozerskoye. At the same time pressure from the northern flank on the garrison in Dobropolye is increasing. The city is already being squeezed from the northeast, east and south.
Inside Dobropolye itself assault groups of the 51st Army conducted offensive operations in the northeastern, central and southern parts of the city. Marine units operated in the east, where they destroyed a fortified strongpoint.
Krasny Liman direction
Russian units still retain control of Zarechnoye, while the Ukrainian side is already approaching its positions. The main combat operations continue in the forest tracts in the area of Yampol and on the southern outskirts of Krasny Liman. The forest cover and the large number of strong points still make it possible to hold the approaches to the city. However, the situation remains difficult.
Despite the forest cover, the number of usable crossings over the Zherebets is limited, so Russian units have to use individual sections of the river, including in the area of Yampol. Ukrainian units are attempting to break into Yampol from the direction of Ozernoye and Dibrova. At the same time small Ukrainian groups are attempting to infiltrate the area of Zarechnoye. Russian units continue to deliver fire strikes against Ukrainian positions on the outskirts of Yar Penkov and in the area of Zarechnoye. Artillery is actively operating in the area of Mirnoye. Combat operations continue in the area of the Serebryansky forestry.
Conclusion
In the Zaporozhye, Sumy, Kharkiv, Dobropolye and Krasny Liman directions combat operations are developing within a similar tactical logic: Russian units operate predominantly in small groups, consistently expand zones of control, disrupt logistics and seek to create threats of encirclement for Ukrainian groupings. In the Zaporozhye direction this is expressed in the advance west of Zorevka and the wedge toward Barvinovka. In the Sumy and Kharkiv directions — in the pressing of defences and the tightening of the encirclement ring, as well as in the repulsion of breakout attempts. In the Dobropolye direction — in the overcoming of the defensive line and the creation of preconditions for the envelopment of Dobropolye from the north. In the Krasny Liman direction — in the holding of key positions and fighting in the forest tracts. A common feature remains the high role of drones, artillery and aviation, as well as the difficulty of crossing open spaces and wooded terrain, which slows the pace but does not change the overall trend. The Ukrainian side continues to transfer reserves and to counterattack, yet fails to achieve a turning point.
Ukraine may face a financing gap of up to 54 billion dollars through 2029, Bloomberg reports, citing preliminary estimates by the International Monetary Fund. “According to IMF estimates, Kyiv will face a financing gap of between 30 and 35 billion dollars next year, 17 billion dollars in 2028 and 2 billion dollars in 2029,” the agency writes, citing sources familiar with the Fund’s calculations. It is noted that these estimates are preliminary and may change. On Tuesday a meeting of the Ukraine Donor Platform is taking place in Brussels with the participation of partner countries and international financial organisations. Earlier the European Commission stated that it is first necessary to establish precisely Kyiv’s additional financial needs. The Commission is also urging the Ukrainian authorities to accelerate the reforms required to unlock approximately 20 billion euros in financial assistance available in the current year.
